A Happy Go Lucky Finish

One of my favorite parts of quilting is to come up with my own patterns but sometimes it is nice just to let someone else do the math and all I have to do is follow the instructions.

This was the case with this quilt. For my finish in July's A Lovely Year of Finishes, I won a pattern from Cheryl of Meadow Mist Designs.  When I saw her Peanut Butter Pinwheels pattern, I knew it would be perfect for the Happy Go Lucky layer cake I had on the shelf.

I paired the layer cake with some Kona Ash.  When I went to quilt it, I knew I wanted to create a lot of texture with the quilting so I went with a stacked mum or ruffled flower.  I love the casual feel to this quilt.

The pattern was well written and easy to follow and the quilt went together really quickly.

Thanks to both Cheryl and Sew Bittersweet Designs for helping me create this inviting quilt!  I will be testing it out this afternoon!

I really like the Kona Ash with your colors. Did you free motion quilt it?

Thanks Jennifer. I did free motion quilt it. This pattern is easy. Anytime you quilt yourself in a corner, it is easy to echo quilt your way out.

This quilt is just the type of quilt I love as it is free flowing, non stuffy looking. You can use it anywhere as it would fit right in making just the right amount of statement. Nice job!

I agree--it is sometimes nice to let others do all the thinking and figuring out of a pattern and just follow. It's a beautiful quilt--fabric choices and quilting design. Well Done!
