So Happy it is Finished!

I can't tell you how happy I am that I finished another of these Sunbonnet Sue quilts!  I think this one is the 7th one I made using a stack of blocks passed down in the family.  I only have enough blocks for one more - which will be purple and green.  But right now it is just a stack of blocks and some fabric so it will not be finished any time soon!.

I decided just to do a daisy all over quilt pattern on this one.  Go ahead Quilting Police and come arrest me - I quilted right over the applique and decorative stitching.  This one won't be coming apart for years!

For the backing, I had purchased a blue fabric many moons ago.  The year on the selvage was 2005 so it shows you how long this top has been waiting to be quilted.

Finishing up this quilt was my A Lovely Year of Finishes goal for March.  A big thanks to Fiber of All Sorts and Sew Bittersweet Designs for hosting the event and keeping me focused on getting these older projects finished!

Whoot!  Whoot!

That must have been some stack of Sunbonnet Sues that you inherited! Even though they aren't your favorite thing to work on, someone will love it!

YEAH!!! Only one more to go. And the quilting police are not going to come find you - quilting is pure fancy, don't cha know? It's just right for this quilt. Now on to something that sparks your interest a little better! See? It's all good. :)

I too think the quilting is a perfect compliment to the Sues. Sometimes I think a quilt can get too dense with custom quilting and take away from the art of the quilt. I love the daisie...I have a similar pattern and it's always a "go to" quilt pattern.

I love it! Often the KISS rule (Keep it simple, Susie - HA! I did NOT plan that) is best. I know I tend to overthink motifs, and I 100% agree with what Valerie says, much as I love love intricate quilting.

Oh yeah, we're all cheering you on while secretly thinking, "I'm glad that's not my project." But you do such a lovely job on these Sues. I think the all over quilting is fabulous! Yay for another Sue finish!
