Oh Scrap! : Another Scrap Vortex

For me, starting a new quilt can happen so quickly.  A few scraps get sewn together just to see what they look like and then that leads to a few more seams.  Before I know it, I have to add another quilt to my "out of control" WIP list.

Can you believe I started another Scrap Vortex quilt!

I have been sewing with a lot of black and white fabric lately so there are quite a few small pieces scattered around my cutting table.  A scrap of red landed among them and I like how they looked.
As easy as that things get started!

I am not sure where this project is going.  I think I will just finish that third component and get creative with some borders.  It would make a great 100 Quilts for Kids project so we will see if I can get it finished by the end of September.

I had no intention of starting another quilt....But scraps are tricky that way!
So what have you made with your scraps this week?

Black and white and red look so wonderful together. It also reminds me of the childhood joke, Q: "What is black and white and red all over?" A: "A newspaper!". I'm not sure why that popped into my head this morning, but there you go. :)

I desperately need to free myself to make some scrappy pieces - my type A always gets in the way. I made the gravity quilt and saved every piece left over. Yesterday while the weather was wild outside I sat down with some math and reworked a "paint chip" pattern from a blog I follow from an 8" to 12" square - did one block to check my math, and have enough for an additional 6 blocks - this only uses up 2.5 x 3.5 piece of my leftovers - still have more to use.

I love that new vortex quilt. So good you started it. I've started a scrap quilt, too. Think I can show something next week.

Oh my gosh, that is the same way I get into another project. I will have scraps laying there that may look good and why not just try it and see what it looks like and then it grows and grows, I have so many too. It is fun, but takes time from the "other ones" I am working on.lol I am so glad I am not the only one out there that does that.

Love the red!

I do know exactly how tricky those scraps can be and before you know it, you are way into another quilting project!

They look like a fun quilt and had thought about making one too. Looks like a great way to use up some scraps.

It looks great and like great fun! (I won't try to talk you out of a second Vortex - I'm having enough trouble trying to talk myself out of a second Garden Party...)

I love this new project... And I have been pondering what to make with my black, white, and red scraps. Now I just need the time. Thanks for the inspiration.
