Another Scrap-A-Palooza Mashup

Recently, while putting away some fabric, I came across some really old chunks of fabric that really needed to be made into something.  Not having a lot of time, I wanted to make something quick and I thought the primary colors would be great for a kid's quilt.

So I scanned through my previous Scrap-A-Palooza quilts for inspiration and thought I would combine the blocks from my ZigZag quilt and assemble it using the Horizontal Bar or the Brick Quilt.

So I grabbed these precut black and white 2 1/2" squares from my storage container...

...and made this cute little quilt!

I cut the rectangles at 4.5" x 8.5" and sewed them to the pieced black and white fabrics.  It was super fast to sew up.  Not too bad from a bunch of unloved fabrics.

The blue bandanna fabric I had in my stash worked perfectly for the backing.  And because my piecing wasn't perfect on this one, I went with a serpentine stitch for the quilting, which helps to hide those imperfections.

In no time at all, this quilt is ready for a new home!

This quilt will be my second one being linked up with Quilts in the Queue for the 100 Quilts for Kids event.  A local organization called Bags of Love is getting a big stack of quilts from me this year!
There is still time for you to make a quilt for the event.  Need ideas?  There are lots in the Scrap-A-Palooza Quilt Gallery.  Just grab your scraps and pick a project.  They are all fast and easy!

A beautiful little quilt. Thanks for the ideas and the dimensions of the blocks and quilt. I need more time to sew.

Not bad at all, I really like it, I'll have to file this idea away for my own donation quilts! Yes we all just need to find that magic button to push for getting more time!!

Oh isn't it great! It reminds me of Lego with the bumps on each brick and it's the right colours too !!

A great little quilt and easy peasy to make from what you say - I am sure I "may" have a pieces hanging around which I could use to rustle one up!

I really like how that turned out. You really made something from nothing (kinda of)

Oh I love it when unloved fabric gets a chance to come out of the stash and be turned into a quilty hug. You've done a super job on this one and it is both boy and girl friendly. Brilliant :)

You are so great Cyndy at making wonderful quilts from fabrics you aren't that excited about. This quilt looks like something a NASCAR enthusiast would flip over!
