Oh Scrap! : RSC15 Orange

The month of August was certainly all about sewing scraps! So it is looking like September will be about getting all those quilts finished.

Various bits of fabric have been flying at my house and I should have quite a few more scrappy finishes to share soon.

Last month, I decided to go ahead and sew up my RSC15 blocks into a charity quilt.  This week it found its way onto my longarm and was quilted.  Boy, do I love this little quilt!

I was pleased to see that Angela at SoScrappy chose orange blocks for the month of September.  It is one of my favorite colors and, because I wanted some orange in my quilt, I had sewn these four blocks in August.

My initial plan was to add a pieced border on my quilt so I have been sewing up these colorful little 9 patches.  But when it came time to add the border, I decided I liked the quilt best without them.  So now I just might turn these into more blocks and make a second quilt.
I will share pictures soon of the finished quilt.  I just have to finish up the binding!

What scrappy projects have you been working on?

I love the combination of colored 9-patch blocks with the black and white triangles--may have to borrow that idea.

I love what I can see of that quilt! Can't wait to see a pic of the final.

Too much life going on here the past couple weeks to join in the party, but I hope to remedy that this week. :)

What a cute 9P quilt with the b/w alternate blocks. I like the quilting too. I'll bet I could even do that on my DSM! Thanks for the idea.

Love the grey, black and white surrounds to the colourful nine patches, that really sets the rainbow colours off nicely and will make a wonderful quilt.

What a fun backing you choose! I love ninepatch quilts and the colorful squares with the black/gray is beautiful!

Thanks for sharing the quilt being quilted. Not only are the colors great against the black/whites, but I enjoyed seeing the quilting patterns. Simple but effective, each block having its own pattern and not an allover.

Ooo, it does look like a lovely quilt!

I love how these blocks all look together. Your quilting ties it all together and gives it great movement. Love it and looking forward to seeing the whole quilt.

Great quilt on the long arm. I'm sure you will have it quilted in no time. Sometimes a quilt wants a change in the border not just more of the same; other times it says, nope, I'm done. We have to listen to the quilt and we'll always end up with a winner.

I love the quilt on your frame! It is gorgeous... all of the pops of color with the black and gray triangles. Wow!

I really like the way that you quilted the nine patches. The wavy lines and spirals add such great movement to your quilt without being too fussy.

Loved the quilting on that quilt. Are you using a pantograph or is this another part of the creative process?

The straight line quilting on those 9 patches really adds a lot of texture. Looking good.

Your 9-patches are so much fun. What a great idea for a child's quilt. Maybe you said in a previous post but I missed it: what size are the 9-patch squares?

Thanks for hosting the link party.
