Finally Letting Go

When it comes to quilting, I sometimes have a hard time letting go - be it fabric, scraps, WIPs or orphan blocks.  I know in my head that I am probably never going to use many of the things I continue to tuck away but it is so hard to let them go.

But I am trying to change that.

With the Quilty Orphan Adoption coming up this weekend, I have been going through all of my WIPs and evaluating them.  One of the projects I came across was a single block made from the book Folded Log Cabin Quilts.  I have held onto this for years thinking I would someday revisit this technique and make a project from it.

I am finally letting it go.  One of the reasons I am able to give up on this is I am passing this book on to someone I think might use and enjoy it.

So I turned my original little (very imperfect block) into a mini for my wall, put all the strips into the scrap bin and sent the book off.

But not before I turned some of those strips into a cute little hexagon mini mini for the new owner of the book.  I don't expect her to make a project using this technique but sometimes it is easier to pass something on and let go when the item is going to a friend.

I have another project I will be putting up for adoption in a few days.  If you have something you want to pass on to someone who can use it, the event starts Friday the 18th!!

Two WIPs crossed off my to-do list in one week!
I might have to celebrate by starting a fun NEW project!

Quilting is more fun than Housework

Thanks for the reminder! I'll look for something in my sewing room, and hopefully, I can join the link-up, too.

It is hard to let go! Even if it isn't quilting related! It's easy to hold on to things even though you never use them. But I have a feeling your friend appreciated the book and the mini!!! And I bet she is inspired and itching to make something from that book too!!

It is hard to let go. Good news, if you ever want to revisit that book or technique, I'm sure the library has a copy. Keep it up.

Pretty fabrics for your minis! While not a hoarder, lol, I do have trouble cleaning out and getting rid of things that I should really get rid of. I found that out the hard way when I was emptying out my classroom of 18 years! Books are especially hard to get rid of. Do you suppose the library would take quilting books? I don't have a ton, but even those I do have, I don't use anymore!

Good for you. I just came to take a break from cleaning/organizing my sewing room, and I do need to release some things to make space for the good stuff.

I have been doing a major clean out of fabric, patterns and books in prep. for a move. It is really freeing and when we get settled I can add to my stash all the great new fabrics that come out.
