Free to a Good Home

How do you get that old, unloved half-finished project off the shelf?  You send it off to a good home!

I started the Quilty Orphan Adoption Event because I myself had a number of projects that I just could not toss in the trash but I knew in my head, I probably would never finish.  There are just too many new fabrics and projects to play with.  Who wants to work on things they just don't enjoy!

This time around, I am putting up for adoption these fourteen 10.75" blocks leftover from the Bollywood Bliss quilt I made.  I will also throw in some leftover fabrics and some partial panels that could be used to make more blocks.  I am sure there might be a few other coordinating fabrics tossed in just to fill the package!

I will ship this anywhere in the US for free!
***Note:   I would really like this to be made into a quilt for a charity.***

If you would like to adopt this project, please let me know in the comments that you are interested and for what cause you will be making it.  You can also email me the information at cynthiabdesigns at gmail dot com if you prefer.

I will be selecting someone from those that are interested on Tuesday March 22nd so make sure you notify me before that.  If there is more than one good fit, I will draw names from a hat.  Please make sure I can get a hold of you!  If you are not positive if your email is available, please leave it in the comment.

 Thanks so much!

*****These blocks have been adopted. Thanks to all who offered to turn them into a donation quilt. The next event will be in September!*****

Quilting is more fun than Housework

I am linking up with others ready to alleviate themselves from older projects.  Maybe you have something to share too!

It's bright enough for baby quilt. My friend and I make baby quilts for a charity that sends the knitted hats and quilts to a birthing centre in third world countries. They found that some women show up with nothing for their newborns. Alas, I live in Toronto so I don't qualify. I hope you find someone.

I would love working with these colors - since they are not my normal colors! My LQS collects quilts for Make A Wish Foundation. My bee sews there monthly, so I want to give back and make a quilt for the LQS to turn into Make A Wish!

Cyndy, is there enough there to make a throw or lap size quilt? I would use your beautiful fabric to make a quilt for Kat's Covered in Love charity.

I would be happy to finish this up for charity. Our guild supports several groups - One is for troubled teenagers, a hospice, a low-income newborn nursery. A friend is looking for a quilt to raffle to raise money for the horrendous medical bills of a 4 year old girl that is dying from a grave neurological disease. The list goes on.

I am very interested. My oldest daughter works for a pediatric oncologist and I would send it to one of the teens going through chemo.

I love these colors. I donate quilts to Quilts for Kids and also have a quilt ministry at my church for those suffering long term illnesses. Thanks for doing this. Doris in Alabama dmiller124@att.net

My husbands brother died from an un-diagnosed congenital heart defect. It hit the family pretty hard. I am now making donation quilts for kids born with these defects and giving them to a local pediatric heart doctor who gives them to the family. A heart is appliqued on all the quilts given to remind the recipients that someone cares. I think I could make more than one quilt from your blocks and that would be awesome!

So generous! That fabric would be a wonderful addition to my stash of fabric for donation quilts! I make quilts for the DC General Homeless Shelter (https://dcgeneralquilters.wordpress.com). I donated 3 quilts last December, and now I have 4 tops ready to be quilted! New fabric is always appreciated!

I work with Lincoln Quilts for Kids. We make quilts for sick children at our hospitals in Omaha, Lincoln and Grand Island. We try to work with bright and cheery fabrics to brighten up the days spent in the hospital. All the fabrics need to be great because they are washed in the hospitals to keep them sanitary. We are always looking for fun things to work with and our group is lucky enough to meet at the International Quilt study Center and Museum so the public visiting the quilt museum can see what we are working on. Bright and beautiful makes us happy and the hundreds of sick children who just want some comfort and something of their own while they go through treatment.

We, the Hugs Ministry of First Southern Baptist Church of Waterford CA, would love to receive this orphan. We make quilts, pair them with stuffies, and give them to local fire departments to give to kiss in crisis situations. Thank you for doing this and considering giving to us. God bless, Cory

That should read "kids in crisis situations" 😏 that's what I get for not proof reading. Cory

My quilting group is starting a baby quilt project to make and sell baby quilts to fund new sewing desks and tables in our sewing studio. I'd love to adopt this bundle to make into a baby quilt or two for them. I live in the U.S.

These are great blocks. I love the colours. I'm out of the running because I'm in Canada, but wanted to say that I liked them.

So bright and cheery! I think it could easily be made into 2 quilts for Neonatal, that's what I would do with it.

If any of your readers wish they knew of a charity they could make this for, may I suggest that they could make a quilt for one of the three charities for the Hands2Help Charity Quilt Challenge this year? We are collecting quilts for Quilty Hugs for Happy Chemo, Covered in Love (for terminal patients and their families in Texas) and for the Yukon Women's Transition Home in Canada. They can read more about this drive at http://confessionsofafabricaddict.blogspot.com/2016/03/hands2help-2016-its-signup-time-ps.html. The Challenge runs until May 20th, 2016 and is an annual event.

These are so beautiful. I make 2 -4 charity quilts per month for my local quilt quilt. I have been making mostly scrappy quilts as I use up fabric in my stash and the many fabrics that have been donated to me. I would love to work with such uplifting colors. Our quilt gives quilts to our local cancer center, dialysis cent and several children's groups. I love making our "cuddle quilts" for the baby's and children it is a labor of love close to my heart. These would contain lay go to a good charity if regimes to me.

It's so nice of you to donate such a lovely set of blocks and fabric; they'll surely make a much loved quilt or two. I belong to a small group that gathers weekly to make quilts and blankets for Project Linus, and we love to work with cheery, bright colors like these.

I occasionally do Quilts for kids and usually donate about 25-30 pillowcases to the kids who are waiting to be fostered out. I would use your project to make a quilt for someone starting cancer treatments. I try to keep a few on hand to be ready for people who are starting the treatments. Your fabrics are so happy, they would work well. These quilts are so appreciated.

I see you have many quilters interested in adopting your squares, so I'll just throw my hat in the ring also. I would make it for Hands2Help, as mentioned by Sarah. Thanks!

I'd love that happy fabric and blocks to make a quilt for Hands2Help Challenge! I'm already signed up, and have one partially cut out, but doing two would make me even happier! I'm sure whomever you choose will be a great fit for the package. =) dezertsuz at gmail

I would love to finish this quilt to be used for our local missio house or for hospice. I try to make one for each charity during the year. It will be a good choice for any charity so thank you for doing this for someone.

It would absolutely make a beautiful quilt for a service member or veteran. In conjunction w/my local chapter of the American Sewing Guild, my group would have a sew day and get it backed and sandwiched for quilting. Thankyou for your generosity.
