Boundless

If you are a regular reader, then you know I am now a Craftsy affiliate.  I had been ordering their classes and supplies for quite some time before I decided to partner with them.  It is important to me that I feel good about the companies I work with and the products I discuss.

So when I saw that Craftsy had come out with their own solid fabric line, I contacted them to see if I could get a little sample so I could evaluate it.  I know the quality of the other manufacturers Craftsy carries but I didn't have any experience with Boundless.

Just look at this very generous bundle of yumminess they sent me!  This is their Modern Brights Fat Quarter Bundle.  I was immediately impressed with the feel or "hand" of this fabric.  I have been showing it to a number of my clients and they all agreed it is quite nice.

The colors in this particular bundles have a wonderful balance of hot, cool and neutral colors.  But even though it looks and feels pretty, I also needed to know how it performs.

Two of the dark purples went into a tub of water to see if any dyes ran.  The water came out clean.  I also threw the chocolate brown into a load of laundry containing jeans and towels.  Regular wash and dry!  The color held true, there was not a lot of fraying and the shrinkage was what I would expect - about 1/2" in both directions.

Now to sew with it...

I have been wanting to make a solid courthouse steps quilt for a really long time.  So I cut some 1.5" strips and sewed up this block in to time at all.  The fabrics were really nice to work with!  I am excited to see how many blocks I can make from this bundle.  With the way these lovely colors all work together, I think I will be able to come up with a fairly large quilt.

Here is a shot out in the sunshine.  Stay tuned...I will be sharing more on this project soon!

You can purchase Boundless by the yard, in all sorts of precuts and many color combinations.  And if you want to try some out for yourself, I am happy to say it is on sale through Sunday at a fantastic price (along with many other items).

Oh, and if you are interested in becoming a Craftsy affiliate yourself, you can read more about it here.

Sounds wonderful. Can you offer a comparison to Kona which I sometimes find to be loose and ravelly? (I've heard there's a difference between Kona and kona with a little K, but I don't know how to tell the difference.)

Oh, that is gorgeous! And what a pretty block, too. I'm curious about the difference you see between the Boundless and Kona cottons. I've had trouble with them raveling a lot, too.

Good to know! And it looks like they have a wide variety of colors. Thanks for testing out for us!

I am a Moda Bella solids user and love them. If possible (you may not be a Bella user), please post a comparison of Boundless and Bella solids.

Will definitely have to check out this fabric as I have been quite disappointed with the quality of Kona!!!!!! It has a more course 'muslin' feel that is unacceptable to me. I'm always on the look-out for a good fabric to put under the vintage pieces I stitch. Thanks so much and I look forward to future evals.

I am so glad you had the chance to 'test' this fabric! I've seen it on Craftsy and have wondered about the quality. I guess everyone else has asked and I shall too! Comparing it to other solids: Kona, Bella, Art Gallery...is the quality of that caliber? Needless to say, the colors caught my eye right away!! I guess I should just bite the bullet and grab a bundle!!
