When Friends give you Scraps...

About once a month, I sew with a couple of good friends.  And more often than not, I come home with a handful of scraps.

At the sew day in September, a friend had sent a couple of quilts to me for quilting.  Along with the quilts came a handful of the leftovers to toss in my scrap bin.  Well, once I got home I realized they were already all trimmed to the same width so rather than toss them into an already full tub, I just threw them up on my design wall.

I added some horizontal strips in Kona snow, some easy straight line quilting and ran it through a quick wash for a fast little finish.

My other finish to share is the fence quilt hanger in the background.  Which was not fast or easy!
But it sure looks nice now that it is completed!

Oh, and here is my friend's quilt using the same fabrics.

I decided to quilt a splashy allover swirl on it - I am sure my inspiration is our current weather!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Great that you are using the fabric you have been given by your friends and making a nice quilt. Great quilt hanger too.

Your friend's quilt is nice, but I'm honestly a bit more drawn to your clever scrap one. And that quilt 'hanger' with the hooks attached is another wise design.

It's really fun to see the quilt you made from scraps next to the quilt that created the scraps! :)

Great use of scraps! I would have just thrown them in the tub.

What a super quilt made from the left over scraps, something to keep in the bad of my mind for another day!

Really nice looking fence for a rustic quilty display point! I like your little strippy quilt very much and the Kona Snow set off the balance beautifully.

There's nothing like scraps from a friend! :). That looks like a fun and happy quilt, and what a great idea for displaying it, too. I immediately looked out at my fence and wondered if I could do with on our new fence!

Maybe the weather this weekend will weather that fence a little bit? But it's looking awfully nice being brand new! Oh yes, your scrap quilt is very adorable. And such a great way to sew up a quilt in no time!

It is wonderful that you have friends that share their lovely fabrics.I love all your scrappy quilts that you post.Somehow even though I have quilted over 20 years, I really do not have too many scraps.Evenless so in the last 5 years.I have solids from piecing backings. I regret downsizing some of my fabrics 3 years ago, donating what now has become the low volume fabric craze. Such is life.lol Thanks for linking up with this week's TGIFF.

Hello Cynthia,

I love the top quilt. Just seeing it will kick start me into using some scrappy strips I have stashed away.

Thank you for linking up with Free Motion Mavericks!

What a wonderful and quick use of scraps! You made quite a lovely quilt, basic and simple, yet so very beautiful! I love your choice of straight line quilting because it truly highlights the fabrics perfectly! Kudos! Thank you for sharing!
