A Quick Distraction

December First!  How did that happen....

As the end of every year comes to a close, I find myself in a bit of a clean-up mode.
I organize my workspaces and make plans for the coming year.

But every time I clean...I always end up stating a new project!

This quilt started when I went to put some orphan blocks and spare parts away into my little suitcase. I found some bits just way too tempting.

Over 20 orphan blocks went into this quilt.  Along with a bunch of Kaffe Fassett scraps.  I know it won't win any awards, but I really enjoy the process of figuring how to use as many bits and leftovers as I can.

I even used some Kaffe Fassett fabric from my stash for the backing.  It feels good to put some of this really old stash to good use.

Now I need to go back to my many UFOs.
But these little orphan blocks were sure a fun distraction!

That is a beautiful quilt! We create a wonderful meal and then what to do with leftovers????? You definitely know what to do with " leftovers". Lol. What is the pattern for the FMQ you used??? Perfect for the quilt too......

Trying to Clean = Start of a new Project. Now, why does this sound so familiar???
The blocks are drool worthy!!!

Love it! It turned out so well. And now you have an empty box for a new project! That's a nice bonus, isn't it?

That is a fun one, Cyndy! So pretty and bright - I like the black sashing with the fun colors. Your post reminded me that I made a spare parts quilt top way back in February or something. I need to dig that one out and finish it!

My kind of fun-very colorful, balanced and pretty!

Preeti is right: who can clean the studio without starting a new project? Not me! And you've proven, yet again, that it's very hard to go wrong with KF scraps :)

Best orphan block quilt I've ever seen.

Gorgeous fabrics in that pretty quilt.

Love your Orphan Blocks quilt. So pretty, a great use of blocks and much better to make a quilt immediately than bury them in a suitcase where they may never make it into a finished quilt. What size was the quilt?

It so is a fun distraction. Great to get a finish out of a UFO.. well done. Looks fantastic. It doesn't have to win an award. Just to be finished is fabulous....

That distraction led to a big accomplishment and I am sure it will win awards from anyone who gets to enjoy its warmth! I would give it a ribbon!

It really turned out great! It isn't easy taking orphan blocks and putting them together, especially without making more! I admire your tenacity and determination!

I'm glad someone else hates tossing perfectly good fabric. And yes, I should be in finish it off mode but somehow have started new quilts, too.

You did well at getting a coherent look from the orphans and pieces. It is a fun challenge. I am always amazed at things that look good together that I'd never thought of combining before. Lay them out and move them around until . . .

Your orphan block quilt looks like anything but. What a great way to use up those left overs and some of the older stash. Congrats on a fun finish.
