A Friday Finish

Even though the weather here in Oregon has been beautiful, I found some indoor time to get a quilt of my own onto my frame.

I love it when a finished quilt was made entirely from scraps and stash!  Lots of old stringy black scraps went into this quilt.

I did use some Essex yarn dyed linen from my stash for the large squares.  And the bright dots used in the cornerstones is a piece I acquired years ago.  It feels good to find it a home finally.

I decided to just quilt a panto called Rosie on this one in a black thread.  I knew the pattern would fill in those gray squares nicely.

The quilting also worked with the stash piece I used for the backing.  I was gifted this large fruit and floral fabric - it really brightened up the quilt.  It is a fun surprise when you turn the quilt over!

I hope all of you are seeing some nice weather and enjoying the outdoors.  My vegetable gardens are now planted and I am busy plucking all the weeds that try to take up residence in my flower beds this time of year.  It is a battle!

Have a great weekend!

Love your quilt! I'm motivated now use up my scrappy white sashing that I made a couple of years ago but using solid med/dark fabric blocks.

your quilt turned out really well. The weeds are strong this year - I get bags and bag of mulch that I use to cover the dirt in between all the plants (small beds) and the ground is well covered - it helps to smother out the weeds but still I have some popping through this year

The quilting design you chose compliments the top (and back) perfectly. Great finish!

I really like how this turned out. Someday I need to use up my dark floral strings too. Some day, some day, will it ever come, LOL. Yes we are having great weather now, the apple tree is in full bloom, and the lilacs are opening. I hope to do some plantings this weekend.

Pretty! I love it when those little bits become something cute and cozy. I like the panto you chose, too. Glad someone got all their planting done! Have a good weekend!

You couldn't have chosen a more perfect backing if you had purchased it specifically for this quilt!!

Fantastic grey fabric as the main color. It gives your quilt a really sophisticated look.

what a great quilt! All it needs are a few kids and a good picnic basket. You don't really even need to take it off the grass (unless it rains).

Hi Cynthia,

I really want to make a quilt like this. Don't you have another quilt like this that used black multi-colored scraps and a big aqua or turquoise squares as the main color? Was that you?

Wow this is a fabulous quilt - definitely a great scrap buster. Your backing fabric is just perfect. I've pinned this for inspiration. Thanks for linking to Sew, Stitch, SNAP, SHARE - and sorry such a late response.
