Oh Scrap! : My Garden Growns

This week, I worked on finishing up my Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks for my garden quilt.  My bee block didn't quite turn out like I wanted it to.  The wings were supposed to be a bit more forward and I was hoping it would look a bit more yellow.  I was planning on redoing it. But after I slept on it, I decided to accept its imperfections.

I also wanted a sunflower bloom to fit over my green sprout blocks made last year.  I had quite a few designs pinned but I chose to go with a favorite block of mine - Rolling Stone.  After completing this happy block, I think I am going to make this one of my next RSC blocks.  There are lots of options for value placement - giving each bloom a unique look.

So many of you gave me some great ideas for yellow blocks but I think I am going to quit here with just these three blocks.  I do have to keep this quilt to a reasonable size!

March will be here soon and we will be moving to a new color.
I am hoping for purple, pink or lime green. I think I need those colors for all three of my RSC quilts.

Your bee looks cute. I wouldn't change the wings but I have a little problem with its legs; it's missing one. Bees have 3 pairs of legs. Maybe it will give the bee the balance you were looking for with its wings. Anywho! Just saying. Love the sunflower. The choice and placement of the fabric really make it look like what it's suppose to be. Great job! ;^)

Your bee is cute! I love the sunflower, too - that was the perfect block for it. That would make a great quilt all by itself in all different colors! Enjoy your Sunday, Cyndy!

It looks like a bee to me! And isn't that really what it's all about...you gave us the visual idea! I love your flower as well. The yellow is coming across and is going to fit in perfectly!!

The bee block couldn't be anything else but a bee, so it's perfect as is. I love the yellow Rolling stones, too. I am also hoping for pink or lime, because weall need some more bright and happy to make it through until spring.

love that bee and the sunflower block - I guess making that one in a variety of colors you could have a whole garden of blooms!

The bee is cute but does need another set of legs, I think. The sunflower is wonderful and would make a great quilt by itself! This is going to be such a fun quilt!

I think your bee is adorable, no matter how many legs she has! 8)

Mr. Bee is clearly one of those big, slow black bumblebees! He's a good size match for that lovely big sunflower, too :)
