Oh Scrap! : Skinny Log Cabin Blocks

I haven't had a lot of time to sew lately but that sure hasn't stopped me from starting a bunch of new projects.  I recently was looking through my scrap bins and noticed I had an abundance of skinnier strings.  It is time to make something to use them up!

So I started with my blue bin and whipped out these 4 eight inch blocks.  I started with a 2.5" black and white center and used 1.5" strips for the logs.  I have no firm idea what colors or design I will end up with.  For now, I am just sewing scraps!

I will just work on these as I get strips cut - it will probably be a long-term leader/ender project.

What I really should be working on is finishing up the MANY projects scattered about in various stages in my sewing room.  I think at this point, every surface is covered!

It is now your turn to share what you are making with scraps.  Here are the details for linking up:

  • This linky party is for any scrappy project - It can be in-process or a finished piece.
  • You can link up your blog post (not your homepage please) or Instagram photo from the past week that features your use of scraps.
  • If you are linking to a blog post, I ask that you link back to my blog somewhere in your post. So if you are writing about scraps, just get into the habit of including a link as there will be a linky party available every week!
  • If you are using Instagram, please use the hashtag #ohscrap.
  • This is a party so remember to socialize and comment on the posts of others.
  • Following my blog is not necessary but it sure would be great if you do!

You and I, sister. I'm stuck at the same place; starting new projects while so many are just sitting patiently all around my sewing room.
On the other hand, I love your new blocks. Nope, not starting log cabins. ;^)

We all know you'll come up with a firm plan soon enough for the log cabin blocks! Until then you will happily work through your other projects and I'm sure you might even start another one or two along the way!!

I think looking through our scraps and stash is when we always get in trouble. "Hmmm, I could do *this* with *this.*" Happens to me a lot! Those are great blocks for your narrow strips - I'll enjoy seeing what happens with them next!

I love your combination of black center blocks surrounded by shades of blues like this. Very pleasing to the eye.
