Think About Backings

One great thing about scrappy quilts, is that it is easy to use backings that you have on hand.  That means, you can stock up when there is a great sale.

I woke up to see that Connecting Threads has a coupon code that will take off 20% off all of their clearance fabrics.  This is a great time to pick up some backing pieces for your stash.  Above is the rainbow of fabrics I picked up the last time they had a sale.  I have already used up many of these fabrics and now I am ready for more.

I thought I would pop in this morning and let you know about the sale too!

Take 20 promo

Just apply the coupon code TAKE20  when you check out.  I already have a big box on its way to me!

Did you leave some for the rest of us.

I haven’t made an effort to stockpile backings in my stash. The few times I’ve bought backing fabric without a specific quilt in mind, I end up not having enough of it by the time I’ve made a quilt that goes with it. How many yards do you buy when you’re purchasing backings for your stash?

Great haul!

So pretty! And the trimmings from the backings made with these fabrics will lead to more scrappy quilts, which will need more backings stashed away. Why am I hearing the song "Circle of Life" in my head? :)

Thanks for the reminder. I had almost forgotten about this discount. eQuilter.com is another one for periodic sales of 40% off on select fabric in select categories. Sales are always great for stocking up on backings.

I was looking for fabric for an applique quilt. I was going to buy from fabric.com but I needed 1/4 yards of fabric and it doesn't let me. With all the fabric, it was going to cost me a lot. I saw your post on the sale at connecting threads. I bought the fabric at 1/2 the cost. Thanks.
