Oh Scrap! : Start, Stop or Continue

I have been spending time in my sewing room this week evaluating a number of projects.  Which ones do I want to focus on and finish up, what projects will continue on into the new year and how many new scrap projects do I want for next year?

Friday I shared my flimsy finish of my RSC Garden Quilt.  I have also decided to sew up the last blue and pink color block for a second Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilt.  I just need to sew up the rows and I hope to share this one later in the week.

Sorry, I am going to make you wait to see the blocks all together!

This quilt is not an RSC quilt, but I am still cutting up my tiny scraps into 1.5" squares and making 9 patches from them.  So far I have 55 blocks.  I will need hundreds of these blocks to make a quilt so I will continue to make them as I come across tiny scraps.
This project is going to be very on-going!

So that means I get to start thinking about what Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks I will make next year.  I have pared it down to seven candidates - although the star blocks don't excite me as much as the others.  The rail fence and the basket block are in the lead right now.  But I am thinking I need to start five projects so I can make the others too!

Do you have a favorite?

They are all good choices to make beautiful rainbow quilts. I haven't seen the last block before and I find it very interesting. The one in the third row on the right (what is it called again? 40-50 or Fight, or something like that) is one I want to make someday. The top blocks are definitively great blocks for a rainbow scrap quilt. It will be fun to see them grow. Enjoy the dithering. ;^)

I'm a fan of star blocks, so that would be my choice. Though the chain block has possibilities too. Good luck on deciding what's going to get your attention next year.

The lure of new blocks is ongoing. I love your chart of possibilities - they are all really interesting blocks! I definitely need to finish up some things before starting anything new, but you know how that goes! :)

I love baskets and stars and chains and rail fences and...well, I would find it difficult to take any of those blocks out of the running so would have to make several quilts or combine some blocks. Looking forward to what you do!

I think the Irish chain with different color blocks would looked different in a very nice way. I’m also a fan of the baskets.

I've seen some lovely basket blocks lately so that might be a good one. Of course nothing can beat rail fence for using strip scraps in lots of different color combinations. Whatever you choose will be fun. Love all those little 9-patches.

I like the last block, bottom row.

I know that you will make whatever block you choose look wonderful in a quilt, but the bottom one really catches my eye because of the way the diagonals would look across the quilt.

I was going to say the green "x" until I saw someone call it an Irish Chaim, 😃 still learning block names!

The block in the bottom row is quite interesting. It has diagonal movement without triangles. Does it have a name? I haven't even started thinking about RSC for next year...

You're well ahead with your planning, I should follow your example I think - but not the five projects!
