Oh Scrap! : Mindless Sewing

I am happy to report that all of my holiday sewing is completed and my clients have picked up all of their quilts that they needed this year.  I am ready for a much needed break!

I celebrated a bit by putting away the MANY stacks of fabric cluttering every surface in my sewing room.  It felt good to get everything tucked away.

I had a few minutes to sew so I decided to make a eight 10" string blocks in orange.  It was therapeutic to spend some time doing a bit of mindless sewing.

As I was cleaning I came across the yellow blocks I made a few months ago and decided to sew them all together.
This isn't a finished top - I will simply use this as the center for a bigger string quilt.

It is hard to believe the end of 2019 is almost upon us.  I still need to decide on another Rainbow Scrap Challenge block and think about the scrap quilts I want to make next year.

I hope you are planning some scrappy quilting too - Oh Scrap! will continue into 2020!

Nice start to another super scrappy string quilt, Cynthia! SEW smart of you to take some time to get things put away in the studio. I'm beginning to feel buried in fabric scraps!!

Those string blocks look sunny and bright. They'll be a great center to whatever you add. I need to do a massive clean-up tomorrow to get ready for Christmas Eve. Just my daughter coming, but I need an excuse to straighten up occasionally.

I’m inspired by your string blocks! They are beautiful! I am just setting up my winter sewing station now and am r-e-a-d-y to get back to work after a month if no sewing. Merry Christmas!

Boy your string blocks look great. May I borrow your idea? I keep thinking a few string blocks would be so relaxing. I am really looking forward to piecing and quilting after a month of mostly embroidery. Plus -- my studio looks like a bomb went off in it. Time to clean up.

I've been working with my strings too for the very same reason...mindless!!

Can't wait to see what you do with yours.
