Covered In Love Finish #2

Ta Da - Here is the second Covered in Love quilt finish. I decided to lay these blocks out in an asymmetrical  design.  It is very different looking than the first quilt I made using these blocks  (which you can see here.)

I tried to get a good photograph of the quilting but the weather wasn't cooperating.  When I can, I use the piecing to guide my quilting spacing so I don't have to do any marking.  This pattern I call a traveling swirl.  I used the intersections of the squares to space out the swirls - alternating the placement with each row.

I used a blue print with a water feel to it for the backing.  I added in a orange inset with a stylized sun design and framed the quilt with a blue batik binding.

I do have the top for quilt number three pieced and am working on the fourth top between other projects.  Maybe I will have another finish to share next week!

If you are not familiar with the block drives for Covered in Love, you can read more about it here.  And if you donated blocks on this drive, I hope you see your blocks in there.

Have a great weekend!
I am looking forward to a sew day planned with friends.

I love how versatile these blocks are! They can do anything HSTs can do, but with a bit more flair. Super finish, Cynthia! :)

This looks so good. HST are one of my favourite shapes, so many options.

It's amazing how two such different quilts can be made from the same blocks! Love the new arrangement.

The two layouts look so different from one another. Always fun to have a pieced back.

A pretty finish! Love this layout.

Two completely different quilt layouts! Both are wonderful. I design that uses the same blocks but offers many different layouts just by block placement!

Two great layouts. They are both a really nice way of using light and dark HSTs. I've been cutting a lot of scraps into squares lately in an attempt to organize my scraps a bit and will need to bookmark these as possibilities.

One of my favorite split nine patch layouts. Such a fast block to kit up and use as leaders and enders. Such a stylish quilt. Way to go, Cynthia!
