Oh Scrap! : Happy Orange Blocks

I was so happy to hear that orange was going to be the RSC color for February.  Purple is my favorite color but orange is a close second.
So I couldn't wait to get started on my blocks for the month.

The first block I worked on were these fun rail fence variations.  In making them I discovered all my oranges were either very light or very dark.  I don't have very many scraps in medium tones.  But I still love the three blocks I was able to complete.

I put them up on the wall with my red and green blocks.  I think this is going to be a colorful and happy quilt once I get a rainbow of blocks completed.  My plan is to have a 5x6 setting so I should finish it up in October of this year!

I am hoping to find some more time this weekend to sew with orange - it makes me happy!

That happens to me all the time too! A lot of one color, but nothing that is in between!

I really like those rails. What size are the blocks? I had more orange than I realized, and I really enjoyed working with it!

It's always great fun -- and inspiration -- to see how everyone uses the monthly RSC color. Your rails are a great idea.

Your rail blocks are looking so good together. I tend to have way more medium values in my stash and lack darks.

Definitely like your rails. I'm still hunting for the perfect block. Maybe this week I'll have enough time to do some serious blog reading and get some good ideas.

The colors of your blocks are so juicy. They remind me of drinks like red wine, mojito, screwdriver and grasshopper. I am sure they will make a yummy quilt.
