A 2020 RSC Finish

The end of 2020 is still a long way away, but I decided to go ahead and finish up one of my Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilts.  Once I get the bulk of the blocks finished, I just can't restrain myself from finishing it up.  Not when it means crossing one off my list!

I am not sure if this block has a name.  It is just a rail fence block variation.  Each of the strips are cut at 2" x 6.5" and sewed together to create a darker pinwheel look in the center.
The bloc finishes up at 12".

This was a great block to help me burn through some of the scrappy strings that fill my color bins.
Plus it was fun digging through my bits to find just the right shade of fabric.

You can see I even snuck in some brown and black blocks.  I have learned over the years that they blend in well amidst all the other bright blocks.

I finished it up by quilting it with swirls.  I recently went through all my rolled up bindings (that I tend to precut then forget about them) and labeled them all with their length.  Sure enough, I had a red one that worked perfectly for this quilt!

The finished quilt finished at 60 x 72".  This one will most likely get donated at a later date.  All of the top fabric came out of the scrap bins so I am happy to give it away to a good home.  I enjoyed putting it all together and playing with all the fun fabrics.
That is pure entertainment for me!

Now I can start making my new RSC blocks that I recently shared...

What a great finish Cyndy! The fact that you pre-cut bindings is awesome...I wish I had the discipline to do that but I don't even think about binding until I need it, LOL. The colors & movement in this quilt are beautiful - this will make someone very happy!

Yeah for the finish! Very cheery. You are so right about the browns and black blending in. I wouldn't have thought that. Hardly have browns in my stash but lots of blacks. I have a plan for them that I just can't seem to get started.

I had to start over again with my comment - the first time around had a bad typo! ;) Bright and cheerful are good words to describe this quilt! I like the dark to light design of the rail fences and how they come together to make the pinwheel design. The red binding is perfect, too. Nice finish!

Looks great; and very smart idea to label binding lengths. I have started doing that for my batting scraps which has been a time saver, too.

That turned out great, nice to know that one can add black and brown to the brights.

There's no rule that the RSC ends in December, right? I say Carpe Quilt! When you have the blocks, finishing rocks :)

You do such a good job of following through on your RSC projects, even finishing some up early. This bright and happy quilt will bring someone cheer.

That's a lovely quilt, an easy block but works so well with that variety of colour. Of course the quilting just adds another dimension. Great job

My mother in law always said every quilt should have some yellow. Like your black/brown. My one granddaughter ate enough bananas when she was little for the pottasium, she's not a fan of yellow. When I was making her a graduation quilt I asked what colors she wanted and she Rainbow, and I said, but no yellow. She looked at me and Said Grandma V always said all quilts should have a little yellow for sparkle. I'd like Grandma V sparkle. My husband sniffled, she got him for sure.

I agree on adding the brown and black to quilts, they just finish them off so well. Great looking blocks sure do make a lovely quilt. Don't you just love when you find a pre made binding that fits a quilt?

Super scrap quilt. Yes the darker coloured blocks work really well, a good contrast to the lighter and brighter colours.
