A Forgotten Finish

I decided to get into the cabinet where I store my personal quilt collection and refold my quilts.  I try and do this at least annually.

I pulled out this quilt and realized I have never shared this one on my blog.
I finished it back in 2016!

It is a design I came up with that used a layercake (I think).  I had always planned on submitting it to a magazine or releasing the pattern myself.  And somehow it got set aside and forgotten for over 4 years.

I might have to make another one of these days.  I am really not a fan of the white background.

But I do really like the red plaid I put on the back!
(Another fabric I wish I had bought more of...)

The custom quilting I did on this quilt looks so cool on the back.
(Okay, it looks cool on the front but white quilting never photographs well.)

So now it is refolded and stacked back in the cupboard.  Maybe seeing it again will inspire me to dig out a colorful background....or maybe I won't think about it again for another few years!

Am I the only one who has so many quilts around my house I forget what I have ?

Have a great weekend!

I really like the shape of the negative space that the blocks make, emphasizing that more with a fun background could really help the secondary design pop!

Oh I doubt you are the only one that forgets what you have! Just recently while digging for my Christmas wall hangings, quilts. I found a snowman wall hanging that I finished up this summer that I had already forgotten about, LOL And I was very excited when I finished it. We make and we move on;)

I agree on the white, but that backing! Love it.
I am finally working with Christmas fabric that I have been gathering for 5 years. After quilting that long, I still feel like a newbie. I am going to attempt a shadow box block.

Reminds me of the lovely antique quilts because of the design and fabrics used, definitely one to b e kept in your personal collection!

That is a really pretty design! I like the star sort of shape that formed in the white space. I love it when you pull out an older quilt that you haven't seen in awhile - it looks brand new!

It is a lovely quilt. Lots of people like white backgrounds in quilts. You are definitely not the only one that forgets about quilts. Rediscovering them is fun too though.

What a nice surprise for you! Time to take it out of storage and use it! Maybe that will inspire you to write up the pattern. It would be a good one!

What a cute quilt! The quilting is really great and those fabrics are fun. I refolded one of my quilts this week and found a big fade mark on the fold line. Good thing it was on the back! The windows in that room are tiny (only 8"x18" so I think the fabric had especially unstable dye. Good reminder to refold EVERYTHING on a rotating basis.

I saw houses, too! I can't wait to see what you do with the design next. You really influenced my background fabric choices during the recent sales. Sew fun to work with less standard colors. What a snappy design, glad you discovered it again.

I've misplaced or forgotten about quilt tops, but not actual quilts. That's a cute one, Cynthia!
