One of my incentives for starting a scrap quilt is that a color bin is so stuffed, I cannot fit it back in its location on the shelf. Such was the case with my brown scrap bin a few months ago.
I didn't have any brown backing fabric so I traded with a friend. She had four yards in her stash she didn't think she would ever use and I gave her a whimsical black and white print that I know she will have lots of opportunity to use. A win win for both of us!
I am not usually a fan of brown but I do like how this quilt turned out. Hopefully now that I cleaned out a lot of my brown scraps, I won't have to make another brown quilt for a while.
Enjoy your weekend!
What a beautiful quilt! Only quilters would have guessed that it is all scraps. The recipient will be enjoying this quilt for its wonderful variety. Thanks for sharing.

Love the brown/blue combo!
ReplyDeletelove how this turned out and to be able to use a bit of scraps in the process!!
ReplyDeleteIt is a challange to sew in colors which you don´t like so mucch, but you have really done it, nice patterns and nice colors.
ReplyDeleteWish you a nice weekend

The brown and navy together look wonderful! I've been thinking a lot more about brown recently. We'll see if I actually make something using it, though. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful scrap quilt!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge fan of brown either, but it is certainly inspiring to see you make something so wonderful out of it. Beautiful quilt!
ReplyDeleteBrown and blue are a great combination. The courthouse block layout you came up with is a nice way to use them both together. Always nice to have a nice masculine quilt on hand.
ReplyDeleteYou made a wonderful quilt even if you don't like brown. I'm not much of a fan of brown but here it sure looks good. Congrats on this masculine quilt. Enjoy the weekend. ;^)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! How can you ever go wrong with log cabins? Great colours too... they work so well together. Love the layout too!
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful use of colours you have scraps of AnD isn't your first choice. The quilt is a perfect design too...
ReplyDeleteCongrats on another finish...xox
I love your browns and blues together! The really fun part is all the pops of other colors in your scraps that give it so much depth and interest!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out great. I love that scrappy design.
ReplyDeleteLove it !! Great colors together
ReplyDeleteThat really did turn out nice. Can't beat one of the oldies patterns. It's nice you could swap fabric.
ReplyDeleteIt is such a joy and inspiration to see what you create. Every morning I open my email to see what new creation you have put together. Love your work.
ReplyDeleteSuper finish, Cynthia! You had some wonderful chocolate brown scraps in your stash, and they look so great with navy blue. I think it is especially satisfying to use up scraps that are a challenging color, don't you? :)
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is so gorgeous, Cynthia ! You are an inspiration to us all.
ReplyDeleteYa did it again, another I have to put on my 'want to make' list! It's gorgeous, would make a great guy quilt.
ReplyDeleteIts perfect!!! Those colors are so great together - and the design - fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteMay I just say this is stunning!! Those colors work so well together and the movement of the different prints is amazing. The backing fabric is just perfect. Starting with 1.5 inch strips makes the block finish at 11 inches, right?
ReplyDeleteCozy quilt, excellent fabric swap!!
ReplyDeleteThis is quite lovely. Blue and brown is such a winning combination!
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic looking! There's just something about a log cabin block that is so warm and comforting in these colors!:)
ReplyDeleteOh I do like your log cabin quilt. Blue and brown is one of my favourite combos.
ReplyDeleteWow! I really like that staggered layout AND the blue and brown together. Fantastic finish!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful quilt! A terrific combination of colors and scrappy fabrics.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous quilt, especially since it just started out to be a use-it-up quilt. I love it and I think the setting really set it off beautifully!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great quilt. I really like the layout you've used. It gives the blocks so much added interest. And brown is a colour I like but it's virtually impossible to mix it with modern fabrics on the market at the moment. Brown and blue makes a good combo!
