Number Five

Happy Friday!

I am ready to share with you the fifth Covered in Love quilt finish.  For this layout, I went back to a design that creates large plus shapes across the quilt.

This second plus layout is staggered and details the light areas.

Here is the first layout so you can compare the two.

It took five different fabrics to come up with a backing large enough for this one.  I used a blue batik fabric for the binding so it was framed up nicely.

This quilt was hard to photograph - all of that white was reflecting the bright sunshine.  But I am not going to complain too much.  I am ready for spring!

A big thanks to all who donated blocks for this project.  If you want to read more about Covered in Love and how you can help, you can find information here.  I think Kat recently came out with a new block to make for the March/April drive.

I have two more quilts to finish up.
What will be the next unique block layout?

I like the staggered layout. It adds an unpredictable whimsy to the quilt.

You go! I love this layout, but I think I say that about all the layouts!

Wow! So many wonderful quilts and all from variations on a simple single patch and HST. Thanks for sharing all the fun arrangements. I'm hard pressed to choose a favorite.

I like this one but I love the first one. I think that first will be hard to beat for me because it was the first time I saw the block too. It left a very deep impression. Looking forward to the next one. ;^)

Another fabulous finish for Covered in Love, Cynthia!! Thanks for the link to the new Block Drive. Looks like an easy one!

Such a pretty quilt! Someone will love that one. I was so busy looking at the colors and triangles that I didn't notice the pluses at first.

Wowzers! Great layout, Cynthia! I have made the first layout, but the second one is fantastic. Ahem, complaining about the sun in Oregon in early Spring is a jinx! As I'm writing this, the rain is hitting the window. Oh well, more quilting time, right? Ha!

Another great quilt! Fun mix of backing fabrics, too. It's hard to believe you'll have seven different layouts for this block. So versatile! :)

Amazing what the change in block placement does for the design of the quilt! I really like this new one with the light plusses. You're an expert at figuring these designs out! :)

I love the colors you used in both and especially love the layout of the top one. :)

Love these quilts! But I haven't been able to find cutting instructions or measurements for making this block anywhere! Perhaps you can enlighten me? Thank you!

What a great quilt!!! I looked for the block on the link you gave (for the next block) but I could not find it. I went back a few weeks. Anyway, could you either give me a link to the block and/or give me some dimensions for the pieces and size of block. I can recreate it as long as I have some numbers. This will make a great QOV quilt!!! Thank you!

It looks so interesting! I have finished tops out of all the blocks I had here but I don't think I made any like that.

Another awesome finish!! You can also see streak on lightening on that one - if you look at the right direction! too cool!

I love the first layout, but love phase two even more! That staggered effect is really fun!

You are truly a wizard at block design layout. I've loved them all. If I were at home staring out at the snow and cold, I'd be jealous of your sunshine, but I'm sitting here in central FL with sun and warm temps, so I can't complain (at least until I have to head north this weekend).

for those wanting the specs for this CIL block, here's the page.
if this does not work, the block is the Fall 2019 block on Kat's page.
