A Lovely Year of Finishes - September Goal

My September is looking so busy, I almost skipped setting a goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes with Sew BitterSweet Designs.  There are piles of client quilts to quilt, patterns to write, projects to finish and classes to teach.  Not much room in there to stick another project.

But I have lived with myself long enough to know that I need to keep the pressure on to finish things because I will tuck something away really quickly!

And a project I can see myself ignoring is the scrap vortex I recently started.

I have now finished this piece that measures about 38" by 45".  I have decided not to add any more to it because I fear it will become too chaotic.  Now I want to add a border treatment to make it larger.  Not sure if there will be more than one border and I may go pieced or even asymmetrical.  There are lots of options.

A Lovely Year of Finishes

Until I figure it out, I will leave this up in my sewing room and not let it get tucked in a drawer.  And the carrot to keep it an active project will be to make it my September ALYoF goal.

I can do it!....I think

I really like red with black. Good luck with achieving your goal.

I like it. It looks finished as is--but of course that doesn't help if you want it bigger. I like the idea of asymmetrical--maybe looking like some of the scrap vortex "bled" into the border.

Love it - can't wait to see your border. :)

I think a narrow black boarder with a second boarder would be cute. I would very likely piece the outer boarder but I am a glutton for punishment.

I love this quilt. I can't wait to see where you take it from here.

It will be fun to see how it looks with a border! Today I bought the Fall 2015 issue of Easy Quilts without even realizing that it is the issue with your quilt/pattern in it. I didn't know until reading through the pattern that it is basically made out of one block and that the placement of colors is what creates the pattern. So cool! Putting "Nighttime Blossoms" on my list!

Looks good, it's definitely not 'squirrel-it-away-in-a-drawer' material! I'm just trying to set myself some September goals...I think the month'll be over before I finish the list! Good luck!
