OMG - Sewing from my Stash

I am on a roll!

For the fourth month in a row, I have succeeded in pulling some older stash fabric and turning it into a quilt by the end of the month.

At the beginning of April, I started with this stack of fabric.  Many of these have been in my stash for maybe a decade.

Using my Accuquilt fabric cutter and my 2.5" strip die, I quickly cut a lot of the fabric into strips.

I decided to revisit a quilt I have made many times in the past.  It is made up of just two blocks.  A square that finishes at 6" and a rectangle that finishes at 6 x 12".  They sew up super fast!

In no time at all, I had a finished quilt!
I have pulled many of these fabrics countless times over the years and always struggled with color choices.  I am not sure I like the green or the browns I used but I needed something to break up all that red.

But the quilt is finished and there is no changing my mind now.  Not only is that old fabric not taking up space on the shelf but I was also able to use a piece for the backing that I thought I would have to store forever.

The quilt is actually a nice rich red.  Once I saw the photos should probably be retaken, the sun was going down and my camera battery was dead. Ugh!

There is still some big chunks of some of the fabrics still left.  I might try and take another stab at the colors....or maybe I will just work them into future scrap quilts!   :)

I am just happy I accomplished my One Month Goal for the month of April.  A big thanks to Heidi over at Red Letter Quilts for hosting the OMG event every month.

I think your color combo works great! And that is a good pattern for using stash or 2-1/2" strips from the scrap bin. Thanks for sharing.

I love the red with the brown. I'm not a fan of green, so don't ask me to comment on that!! I'll just say, it needed it! I cannot believe you've had that fabric for 10 years!

The brown tones down the red and the green gives it a zing, whats not to love. Nice quilt pattern, simple and effective, always a good combination.

Don't you just love that 2 1/2" strip die? I bought one for that same exact purpose, to whittle down my stash! I really like your finished quilt. Those blocks might be perfect for my son's quilt which is inching towards the top of my to-do list. I'm also participating in the Simple Strips QAL by Christa Watson on Bernina's We All Sew blog. It goes together super fast, and I'm making mine a 100% stash quilt. Woot!

I like this color combination. Actually I thought the fabrics were from the same coordinating line. They certainly play together well, and that pattern looks great. I've never seen two different size squares like this. Impressive!
Thanks for linking up with TGIFF. I am enjoying making the round of great blogs to see all the beautiful projects and quilts.

Very pretty cheerful quilt. I have fabrics my stash that needs to become a beautiful quilt like this one. I need to figure out what size to cut the pieces so I can make one. Thank you for some inspiration.
