Please Adopt Me!

After many years of feeling like I had to finish every project I started, I now give myself permission to pass on those that I just don't want to finish.  The Quilty Adoption Event I host is the perfect time to find them a good home.

This fall, I am putting up for adoption all of these pre-cut diamonds.  Each diamond measures about 9" tip to tip and they are about 5" wide.  I will also include a few strips that are already assembled.  They can be used as is or deconstructed - however you would like to make use of them.  There are hundreds of these pieces cut (sorry, I am not going to count them) and they should make a nice size lap quilt.

It is all quilt store quality fabric and precisely cut.  I was always going to finish it just to try and sell it.  But because I would have to invest time and a backing fabric, it is just something I no longer want to do. So I am looking for an angel to finish it.

I will ship this anywhere in the US for free!
***Note:   I would really like this to be made into a quilt for a charity (of your choice).***

If you would like to adopt this project, please let me know in the comments that you are interested and for what cause you will be making it.  You can also email me the information at cynthiabdesigns at gmail dot com if you prefer.

*****These diamonds have been adopted. Thanks and see you in March for the next event!*****

I will be selecting someone from those that are interested on Tuesday September 20th so make sure you notify me before that.  If there is more than one good fit, I will draw those names from a hat.  Please make sure I can get a hold of you!  If you are not positive if your email is available, please leave it in the comment.

 Thanks so much!

Quilting is more fun than Housework

I am linking up with others ready to alleviate themselves from older projects.  Maybe you have something to share too!

Hi Cynthia, I would be interested in your orphan projects. I make quilts to donate. The teacup one would go to a women's veterans hospital. The diamond one would probably be made into a lap robe for a local rest home or if I can make it larger (adding borders) it could go to an area hospice unit. Jo Anne

What a great idea! I have yet to connect with a local charity in my new city and I have not worked with diamonds before, so it would best go to someone else, but I just wanted to say what a fantastic idea this is. Poor quilt projects that are stuck in a box for so long. They all deserve to be loved(and finished). *lol* :)

Hi Cynthia, I would be very interested in your orphan blocks. I am currently making quilts for the homeless shelter that is opening up in October in our town. This would make a great addition to them. Happy Stitching! Anna

Can you believe out of the many, many quilts i've made i've never made one with diamonds! I make quilts for Hospice house and I'd love to try my hand at diamonds..especially since you have them cut so nicely! I would add more as needed to make it big enough and complete and donate it before the end of this year.

I would love to adopt these diamonds for our philanthropy group at Flying Geese Quilters Guild in Irviine, CA. The philanthropy team makes quilt kits from fabric donated, the members make the kits into tops, and then our members quilt and bind them. A quilt like this would be given to an adult or teenager in one of the non-profit organizations we work with. We make baby quilts for the Armed Forces at Twenty-Nine Palms' baby showers held every quarter. Each new mothee gets a quilt. We make pillowcases for pediatric and adult oncology units and placemats for Meals on Wheels and senior citizen homes. If chosen, we would be happy to send you a photo once the quilt is finished. This is a great idea! Thank you.

What fun pieces! I'd use them for a quilt for a fund raiser for my quilting group to purchase a longarm machine so that everyone in the group can use it. kthurn(at)bektel(dot)com

I belong to a quilt guild in Olympia, WA which donates quilts to several local charities (foster children, Food Bank, homeless shelter, youth services). I would be honored to finish one of your projects and donate the completed quilt to one of our charities.

I am making lap size quilts for the children in a local children's home. There are 7 girls and 1 boy. So far I have one completed quilt and three tops. My deadline is to complete them by Christmas. I would use these diamonds making the last three tops. Thanks for your generosity. joyecox@yahoo.com

I would like to win these and make a quilt to donate to our area thrift shop. We have a small community, but unfortunately, quite a lot of people that are down on their luck, have lost their homes or job, and need help. I always donate money, clothes, food, and housewares, but I think receiving a warm homemade blanket would help lift their spirits a lot. Thanks for the great giveaway and who ever wins!!

Good morning! Our local guild makes quilts for those in the area that have a loss, such as a fire, flood, or other disaster. We help community members start the rebuild process. Thank you for your generosity.....FYI, I follow you on Instagram and enjoy your MANY projects!!

I finely learned the difference in a project started to learn the process and a project started made to make a quilt or other finished item . Good luck finding a home for this "orphan"

I would love to adopt your orphans. Through carewear.org, I make preemie blankets and isolette covers for our urban downtown hospital, those colors would be great! Thanks for the chance to adopt.

I would be most happy to adopt your cut diamonds for my 2016 project. My goal is 52 kiddo quilts for donations to a local organization that collects and distributes quilts and blankets to children in need. Precut would be a huge timesaver.

Hello, I would be happy to adopt your project. I would make it into either one or two quilts for Ties of Love, which is a program of quilts that are tied with a prayer through my Grandmother's church. Thanks for the opportunity!

fabric choices are the hardest thing for me. It is the hurdle in the race that I can't get over easily. I love to get blocks from others where their creativity has already made the hard choices. I make quilts to raise money for our school and the community with blocks given to me. I love working with other's works-- it takes the pressure off :) I would happily take your blocks and create something fabulous with them that would support other's fundraising goals. Pick me! :) p.s. thank you for offering them up in the first place.

Thank you for the chance to win. I would make the pieces into a quilt and donate it to the Prestonwood Crisis Pregnancy Center in Richardson, Texas. They attempt to give each newborn a quilt. I've donated four so far this year.

Hi, I'm the coordinator of a small quilt ministry group that just started this year. Our small group of 5 regulars have made 12 quilts so far this year plus some school kit bags that hold school supplies for children in third world countries. We would love to turn your project into a comfort quilt for someone in need.
