I decided to elbow my way onto my longarm between my client quilts and finish up my Kaffe Fassett scrap quilt. I really like this one and wanted to see it finished.
The seeds for this scrap quilt were some Kaffe Fassett backing trimmings from a previous quilt.
I cut the large floral into a 4.5" x 6.5" rectangle. Then I used scraps to create these fun 9.5" x 10.5" "tunnel" blocks. Every block has the same floral and black fabric - after that, I just pulled coordinating strings from the scrap bins.
Here it is all finished up!
I did use a number of Kaffe Fassett scraps but I also dug out some solids, geometrics and pretty much any scrap that was the right color. I needed the quilting to be quick so I could get back to my clients' quilts. I simply applied some straight line quilting in each strip of color. With just a bit of backtracking, I could do a whole row continuously.
Sometimes I just can't believe my luck with backings from my stash - I don't think I could have chosen better!
As I was sewing on the binding, one of my quilt buyers offered to buy it. Now I need to decide if I am going to keep it or send it off on its way. I really don't need another quilt.....
And it isn't like there won't be more quilts in the future!

This is so beautiful and a perfect way to show off those big Kaffe prints! Congrats!
Lovely and interesting design. Great Job!
That really came together nicely! I love the color in it - not surprised that someone wanted to buy it right away! Do you have a harder time letting go of some quilts than others? Glad you had some time for finishing one of your own!
I guess I'm an oddball as I don't generally care for Kaffe Fasset, but this quilt is lovely. And yes, I that backing is perfect!
Smashing! Oh just the way to show off that Kaffe floral and clean up some scraps! I can see why someone wanted to buy it. It’s so bright and cheery. Love it!
That's so fun and gorgeous. It's like having a fuel stop in-between destinations. Great creativity Cynthia. Hugs.
That backing IS perfect for the quilt. Congrats on having just the right fabric in your stash!!
Very nice and creative and colorful. Nice way to use those big pieces of flower fabric.
Amazing that all the centers are cut from the same print! With all the different border colors, each block highlights a different color from the Kaffe fabric. Such a neat quilt! :)
This is beautiful. Not sure I could give it up, although I bet you could do several more in the same design with different Kaffe focus fabrics.

Yup, that's a winner. Beautiful "scraps".
Beautiful quilt, great idea to use the same Kaffe Fasset fabric for the blocks centres. The backing fabric is absolutely perfect. No wonder someone has already offered to buy it. I wonder what you have decided?
Absolutely gorgeous! That backing fabric is perfect! Almost as if you planned the quilt around the backing!
Ying and Yang - the practical side says, "Sell it, I can make another And,I really don't need another quilt." But your wild side says, "But I REALLY like this!" So, what to do? You could keep it and always use it as a trunk show example :) Very worthy.
It's gorgeous! I'm not surprised someone wants to buy it!
It's fabulous!!! Love seeing this one finished up and yes, the backing fabric is just perfect. I'm not sure I even realized the Kaffe print was the same throughout. Just goes to show how different those big scale prints can look when cut smaller.
Wow! Very bright and fun. Congratulations on a beautiful finish.
Oh maaaaan! . . . I didn't know we could call dibs on a quilt before it was finished! . . . lol! I just love this and have been anxious for the finish and it's just so beautiful.
