Once I finished my client longarm quilting today, I found myself a little lost and feeling a little stressed. So where did I turn? To my scraps of course!
I sort all my scraps by color in rainbow order - so I just grabbed the first bin. Looks Like I am starting a quilt with red.
Cutting is probably my least favorite of all the quilting stages, so I decided to use my AccuQuilt fabric cutter to speed up the process so I can get to the sewing quickly.
I looked through my dies and decided to get out my 2.5" by 4.5" rectangle. In no time at all, I had about 100 pieces cut. Next I think I will get out my blue bin and continue cutting. I should be able to start sewing before dinner time!
For those of you curious about my fabric cutter, I have the AccuQuilt Studio cutter. It was the best option for me when I purchased it years ago. When I am cutting in bulk like today, it really keeps my hands from getting sore...and makes cutting scraps super fast.
I still love my studio cutter, but if I was buying today, I think I would go with the Go! Big Electric. They now have die starter sets available that are a great deal.

Very smart to keep your hands and mind busy. I worked on hand binding a quilt this afternoon... but I got it finished. Time to find another project!
I just have the Go! Baby but I ought to either use it or get rid of it. I spent a good portion of the day hand sewing with my pals.
I have been custom quilting today. All dang day. Not sure what we'll do tonight....
I spent the day working on my UFO challenge for this month - just need to add borders and it will be ready for quilting! Woohoo for crossing this one off the list quickly. I really love my Go cutter - definitely keeps my hands and wrists happier than rotary cutting.
I wish your cutting table wasn't the only place still a sea of unresolved blue and red. Stitchin' and hopin' here...
I am super curious what plan you have for the 2.5 x 4.5 because I have been cutting a few here and there too. No real plan here yet:(
Cynthia, Thanks for letting me know about the sale on the AccuQuilt Go! Big electric cutter. I'm treating myself to an early Christmas present and ordered the cutter and 2 1/2" square die. I don't mind cutting out projects, but cutting 15 years of scraps has just about done me in. Scrap quilts here I come! Your website is wonderful.
