If you have followed this blog for any amount of time, you know I love to turn trash into treasure.
And I have a real winner to share with you today!
When I was recently digging through my spare parts and orphan blocks, I came across a bunch of these leftover strip sets. They were 2.5" strips of solids that were cut up into triangles. These are the ends that are leftover.
I sewed a bunch of them together to form a block and then squared them all up to 6".
I then sashed and framed them in a dark blue Quilter's linen. I love this fabric for backgrounds!
I love, love, love how this one turned out!
I put a bright blue herringbone print on the back and quilted it with a navy-blue thread in a square meander.
There is a slight secondary pattern that shows itself in places. I think it has to do with how the lights/darks randomly land.
I used up all of the triangles I had and ended up with a 36" by 42" little treasure.
So many quilters toss these little bits but they can sure make some adorable little projects!
(This sweet little quilt is going in my Etsy shop. It could be yours.)
The backing for this quilt (along with so many of my quilts) are purchased through Connecting Threads. I love buying from their clearance section!

that's the true philosophy of quilting...take something unusable and turn it into some functional....very well done and for setting an excellent example!
This is darling! I love going through my scraps and "finding" quilts. ~Jeanne
So vibrant and bigger than one would have imagined from the "spare parts". Great job!
Your scraps turned out so well - good job done. I never (rarely) throw anything away :)
That one is definitely a winner! I love the dark blue background with those pretty bright scraps. I haven't worked with Quilter's Linen - where do you find it?
It turned out beautiful!
Such a cute finish and great use of scraps The square meandering is the perfect quilting for it.
Fabulous lovely bright quilt from scraps.
I love, love, love how these little bits of scraps turned out too. The background fabric is just perfect as it helps the colours sing louder. It looks like a stained-glass window. GORGEOUS! Bravo! ;^)
Wonderful quilt. I am a big fan of using navy blue as background fabric too. I must say it really sets off these colorful blocks.
What a great finish!
That is a neat quilt. I love the design.
Wow, that is brilliant - both literally and conceptually! You’ve hit it out of the park with this little beauty! Excuse me while I wipe the drool from my keyboard…..
Yes, this is definitely a treasure! I love what you've done with the leftover bits.
What a beautiful result from leftovers. The square meander is a great quilting pattern for this one.
You are not the only one that loves, loves, loves this! It is amazing the things you come up with for leftovers!!
Very nice!
Well those are super cheery! Way to use them up. I have some too but not bright and pretty like these but makes me wonder....haha
What a great scrappy finish, I love it.
You have more imagination than I do, that's for sure! Maybe you should have my scraps? Send me your address, we're both in Oregon, I believe.
How amazing is that!!! It is such a modern looking quilt...
