I am always looking for new opportunities to use up scraps. Sure, I can design something up on my own, but it is sometimes nice to let someone else do the work and all that is needed is to just follow along.
Well, Sophie over at Sophie's Junction has put together not one, but two sampler quilt alongs that you can participate in. And the added bonus is that they are planned around the colors of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. How cool is that!
Her January block is Birds in the Air and she releases a pattern on how to make them for free for a limited time each month. While making your blocks for the month, you can also cut your background pieces for one of her sampler layouts. By the end of the year, you have a lovely rainbow quilt!
If you want to participate, Sophie has kindly offered the coupon code Y2ZXRPX9US to my readers to receive the Birds in the Air block pattern through next Wednesday for free. Thanks Sophie!

Each monthly block is also the design for her Block Lotto which also looks like a lot of fun.
So many options out there for using your scraps. Hope you check out what Sophie has put together and maybe sew along! We would love to see your progress each Sunday on Oh Scrap!

Thanks for sharing my scrap sampler madness :-)
Sophie has created beautiful designs for rainbow quilts. Since I started on 365 Challenge, I'll have to pass on these. Too many quilts, too little time. ;^)
Great blocks. Thanks for the links, I have to find out more about this. Not that I need another project, but in case....
I love those Birds in the Air blocks, and have been enjoying seeing what people are doing with them over on the RsC Saturday link-up! Thanks to Sophie for offering them to us this week! I am definitely going over to check out the pattern.
Sophie's block looks charming, so I'll have to go check it out. Thank you for hosting and for sharing my love of scrap quilting!
I love samplers - a chance to try differnt blocks with different techniques with different fabrics. Connects a bit to the past. I love the Birds in the Air block.
Oh, I might need to go and check it out :) Thank you for sharing!
I've been eyeing Sophie's sampler, because what's one more quilt, right? (*sigh*) I might make the birds in air blocks, because how much trouble could I get into with just a few blocks?
I love your birds - your sampler will be gorgeous!
Very pretty blocks. I love the birds in the air blocks. One day I hope to make a quilt using the birds in the air pattern.
Love the 'birds in the air' blocks and Sophie's ideas for the background setting, thanx for the link!
