A New English Paper Piecing Project

Since finishing my english paper-pieced snowflake top, I have been thinking about a new project. After looking at a ton of Pinterest pictures, sketching designs, and looking at blogs, I finally decided on a pattern and ordered up some papers. Here's the pattern I have come up with.  Each flower block measures about 12" across.

Coincidentally, the papers arrived the same day as a special package from Pink Chalk Fabrics.  I had won a $25 gift certificate to their on-line store from Katy at The Little Thistle for participating in her 2014 Finish-A-Long.

Here are the fabric I ordered. Some soft grays and oranges to go with all the navy fabric I have been picking up lately.

Once I had opened up all of the boxes, a lightbulb went off as to why I have been collecting all this navy, orange and gray. These are the the perfect fabrics to do my english paper piece flower in!

It didn't take me long to finish up a block! I don't have a final layout plan yet. I will need to make a few blocks and see how things look.

So far here are all the fabrics I have planned for this quilt.   Yummy!

Finish Along 2014

Thanks to Katie at The Littlest Thistle and to Pink Chalk Fabrics for the gift certificate. Not only am I finishing projects participating in the Finish-Along but it's always nice to be able to add to my stash without putting stress on my pocketbook!

And on a sad note, the motor in my longarm seems to have gone out so now I must await a new one.
(talk about stressing the pocketbook!)
I have to say this forced vacation has me a bit befuddled.  With about 4 full days ahead of me to work on all the other things I never seem to get to, I find I don't know where to start.
It has been years since I have had this much free time!

Hopefully once the part arrives and I get it installed, Pete will be up and running again and all will be back to normal!

Love that design! I'm tired of hexies and this is a great alternative.

Great color choices... I made a EPP star quilt some time ago and it still one of my favourite quilts ever :) I'm sure you'll love making this one.

Such gorgeous fabrics! Can't wait to see more of the blocks. And so sorry about your longarm machine :(

Those fabrics look delicious! I love the EPP too...I agree with Sarah, I like that its different. What a bummer about the motor!!! That is bound to mess up your schedule like crazy. Fingers crossed it gets up and running ASAP:)

Oh, no - dead in the water. Poor Pete. I gulp to think how much a new motor would cost. Hope you find something relaxing to do. The fabrics are working out well on that pattern - I'm taking an English Paper Piecing class next weekend.

Beautiful block! I am the same way when I am between projects. . . so many things, so little time. . . and I should be cleaning LOL
