One for Him, One for Her

I was recently playing around with some stripped-pieced leftovers.  Sometimes I just love to puzzle out something useful from what would usually get thrown in the trash.  All these silly bug fabrics were so darn cute, I just couldn't toss this odd little pile of fabric so I had saved them for a later date.

I started cutting some wedges out of the pieces...

and started sewing them back up into some cute little X blocks.

As they were all different sizes, I decided to float them randomly in some solids.  Kona white, ash and charcoal worked perfectly!

I soon had this cute little quilt finished for some lucky baby boy!

Then I immediately pulled out some Sherbet Pips scraps I had and made this adorable quilt for some lucky little baby girl.  I had just enough of that pink solid to make those 4 blocks - I love when that happens!

Not sure yet what I will do with these cuties.  They were sewn entirely from my stash and were made more for my own entertainment.  I might donate them to our local hospital's NICU but for now I have them listed in my Etsy shop.

Time to go rummage around in my sewing room and see what inspires me next!

Really like the criss cross shapes in the boys one. Looks great with the Kona solids. Worth a few hours playing with scraps!

Yes, yes ... that's exactly what those bugs needed -- some Kona solids. I love this approach to working with scraps!

What a great way to use up those little odd shaped scraps. I tend to throw mine away because they seemed too small and oddly shaped for me to make any use of, but now you have inspired me.
