In an effort to sew up some of my older fabric stash, I decided to make a quick quilt with my Juggling Summer fabric (by Zen Chic). I had a charm pack and some yardage so I sat down with some graph paper and quickly sketched out a simple design.
I first split up the charm pack into 3 stacks of 14 squares. Then just sewed each stack into a column. I sewed some strips of Robert Kaufman's Quilters Linen in a rich rust to each side. I did this because I didn't want the charm squares to get lost in the quilt.
I then used some of my yardage to make some wide strips between them. I didn't have enough fabric of one color so I had to use the purple and the red. Luckily I had a large piece of the black dots so I was able to use it for the two outer borders.
Almost all of the rest of the fabric went into the back.
To accentuate the vertical look of this quilt, I loaded the quilt sideways on my longarm and just did some fun linear swirls in a rust thread. It looks great with all the circles printed in the fabrics. I think this quilt has a very masculine feel to it so I wanted to keep the quilting simple
It feels so good to have this fabric out of my stash. I have about a one yard piece and a few chunky scraps left. That is certainly something to celebrate!

Great way to use your older fabric. I like all those circles; I'd never have thought of using such a linear pattern to use up circles fabric but it works! Love the backing as well.
