Do you ever obsess about a block you have seen? I know I said I was going to try and just focus on finishes for the rest of the year but KnitNKwilt shared this block earlier this month on Oh Scrap! and I have thought about it ever since.
Last week I received some new dies for my AccuQuilt Studio fabric cutter and I just had to try them out. The one I was most excited about was the 4.5" multiple square.
I quickly pulled some pinks, oranges, plums and dark red scraps and got to cutting. Within minutes I had a big stack of luscious squares.
.
I already had a number of smaller blue squares I had previously cut using my 2.5" multiple die. These I started sewing into little 4 patches.
Here is my test block and I admit, I am in love! When more blocks get sewn and they are laid out together, I think it is going to be gorgeous and rich in color.
My Accuquilt cutter was an expensive purchase but now when I think of all the time I used to spend each evening cutting scraps into little squares and then waking up in the morning with stiff hands, it is worth every penny. Not to mention, my squares are really accurate now!
I also bought a 3.5" square die. I have future plans for that one too so stay tuned!

Love the bright colors you used! That will be a bold quilt
Oh yes! This always happens to me. Some blocks grab my attention and I don't rest until try them by myself. Have a happy scrap week
I liked that block, too, along with the one you posted last week. So many great ideas!
Ooooh, I want one now! I have a Go! Baby and it's just too small. There's a lot to be said for playing nice with your body and not making those precious hands hurt cutting out lots of squares. More time for sewing! Have fun!
I love the brights in place of the white squares. Since many quilts I make go to places where they may be laundered in a river, we are not to use much white. I'd been pondering alternatives. Thanks for the idea. I'd not thought of varying the colors of the bigger squares.
I love the convenience of the Accuquilt cutter. Scraps don't have a chance.
This looks really neat. I can just imagine how the blocks will look together.
Great block for scraps. I like your use of warm and cool colors.
I love your solid colors. I am anxious to see this project finished!
This will be a great quilt!
I think I'm going to have to put that cutter on my wish list. I've seen several posts lately from people who really like it and the biggest selling point is the time saved. Your block looks great, and it's so hard to resist starting a project when it gets in your head. Sew on, sister! :) Thanks for linking up to MCM!
