A Long Time Coming!

I feel like I have been working on this quilt forever.  For years, the cut pieces for this quilt have been in a bag sitting in the corner of my sewing room.  A few weeks ago I shared the finished flimsy.  Well, I am pleased as punch to say it is now a finished quilt!

This quilt is made from Kaffe Fassett Shot Cottons, Woven Stripes and Floral Prints.  Not sure I would have put these fabrics together now but I do like how it turned out.  So much color!

Here is a closer look at the piecing.  Lots of bias edges on this one!
(What was I thinking....)

I quilted a bunch of giant mums all over the quilt.  I really like the texture this pattern creates.

When I pulled the backing piece out of the bag, it wasn't quite big enough.  I seemed to recall stealing some for another project years back.  Luckily I had some leftovers from the top to stretch it out a bit.

This was the oldest UFO on my list!  It feels wonderful to see it finished up - something to certainly celebrate.  Oh Happy Friday!

2016 FAL

...and what makes this finish even sweeter is it is one of my second quarter goals for the 2016 Finish A Long.
Two down and two more to go!

The choice of the light blue/purple as points on the block border was brilliant. Literally. Very well orchestrated.

Congrats! on completing the oldest UFO on your list. I'm hoping to find out what that feels like in the near future.

Great finish! I can't bring myself to work with Kaffe, but I almost always love what other people do with his fabrics.

Wow, congratulations on pulling this out and finally finishing it! I really, REALLY love your backing fabric so of course I was bummed to read that this was a UFO (not likely that I'd find that fabric if I looked for it today).

You are inspiring me; I've got some UFOs of my own that are languishing. Even my kids are starting to nag me: "Mom, when are you going to finish that quilt with all the birds on it?!" and "Mom, is that another new project? When are you going to finish the bear paws?!"

Nice! What a good feeling to finish an old project like that...and to be pleased with it. It is a beautiful quilt! Good job!

I love Kaffe fasset and your quilt turned out beautifully! I was delighted to see your quilt because I have been trying to date the exact fabric you used in the border! I know it is older than 2009 but that's all I know. Might you have an idea when that fabric came out? I found a piece of this in a fabric haul I made last week! Some of that stuff was as old as 1996! 😊

It's a beautiful quilt. Congratulations on a great finish!

It's interesting how our tastes change over time. I look at several quilts I made when I first started quilting a few years ago and know I wouldn't make them now.

I have a couple older UFOs like that, and it is hard to make yourself work on them. But such a good feeling to finish one! Congratulations on a beautiful finish!

For an old UFO, it has stood the test of time! I love all the color and I know you are so happy to have it finished!

Congratulations on finishing an old UFO! It's beautiful and I love the quilting on it. I've never tried quilting those flowers, but I should :) Thanks for linking to TGIFF!

I love all the colors going on in this quilt. (I'm the last to the Kaffe party, I think, but I'm trying to make up for it...) And hooray hooray for a gorgeous finish!

It's gorgeous Cyndy! One of my very favorite color schemes too. You must feel great having finished it. The all ove3r Mums looks wonderful!

Congrats on this beautiful finish. Your quilting adds great texture to the fun bright quilt. I want to quilt something with mums now.
