A Firecracker of a Quilt

I just finished sewing up the first block of my Summer Solstice quilt (with Happy Quilting) and I just had to share.  Like the weather, this quilt is definitely going to be Hot! Hot! Hot!

These blocks finish up at 24" and I will be making a total of nine of them for my quilt.  I wanted to try and use two background colors and I really like the effect on the block.

I have sorted all the components into blocks and bagged them up.  So now, I can just grab a bag and sew up a block.and not spend a bunch of time searching for parts.

A bit of weeding and watering outside needs my immediate attention but I hope to get another block sewn up tonight.

I am pretty excited about this one!

You can find information on Melissa's Quilt Along here.  I love her designs and she definitely hit this one out of the park!  Thanks Melissa!

Your colors are gorgeous together. Love the turquoise and coral together. (Assuming the colors are accurate on my screen....)

The block is so bright, I like it! Your quilt will be a beauty. I'll check out the Summer Solstice link, but I won't be participating. There just isn't enough time to make all the quilts I'd like to make. Blessings, Gretchen villacrestfarm@gmail.com

So beautiful! I'm still stuck on sewing the drunkard's path blocks together. Maybe I should just aim to sew 6 per day and they will get done.

This block is so cool! Or hot! Now that it's pieced, I love this one! That is such a great idea putting all the pieces into bags for a quick 'grab & go' project. This is yet another one of your quilts I'm anxious to see finished!

It's going to look great! I've always thought coral/tangerine & teal a winning combo!

I love the effect you got with the two colour background. I hope to get my first block Pieced tonight. Did you have any difficulty ? I ask because my first centre, the 4 drunkards path units, is definitely leaning towards round rather than square. Although I'm sure I will be able to quilt it flat.
