OMG August Goal : Courthouse Steps

One of the projects I was really hoping to finish during my hiatus from customer quilting was my courthouse steps quilt using Boundless solids. Due to my sewing up a block incorrectly, I have had a tough time wanting to get back to it.

Today, I finally got over my pouting, dug out my seam ripper and disassembled the block. Now I am ready to sew it back together in the correct configuration. I also cut all the pieces for a few more blocks so I am definitely ready to get back to this one.  I really love having my design boards for laying out these intricate blocks.
(Of course, that means you need to lay them out correctly in the first place!)

I thought I would make finishing this quilt my August OMG finish along goal with Red Letter Quilts. Maybe this will give me the incentive to get this one moved to the "Done" pile!

I'm glad you were able to get back to these blocks relatively quickly. They are going to be really lovely when you have it all put together.

I think it will be well worth the time and mental anguish! These blocks are going to be amazing. How many times have I laid out a block and still stitched it together wrong?! I'm glad you decided to pick it back up!

Ripping and resewing - i know that well. I am getting better at not turning a piece around but it still happens far too often for comfort! I love how this looks and think it will be worth all the effort!

I am in that same situation with one of my blocks that I "should" be working on. I messed it up more than once and now just can't seem to get in the mood to try it again. Persistence right? :)

Good for you getting that seam ripping done! That is nobody's favorite part of quilting... But you are going to end up with an amazing quilt!

So pretty in solids! Totally worth the time spent with the seam ripper.

Wow Cyndy - that quilt will be amazing and worth ever seam sewn and then resewn!

I know how you feel - sometimes using the seam-ripper is actually painful - or at least the thought of it is painful. The reality is often not quite so bad. It looks like it's going to be a fun project, worth the stitch pulling.

Glad you got re-started on your blocks. Good luck with your OMG for August.

I think the seam ripper is one of those "Thank God" inventions, right up there with the toothbrush! So much better to fix than to waste precious cotton. Looks beautiful!
