In the Nick of Time!

Tomorrow night is the deadline to get our Summer Solstice quilt top linked up with Melissa at Happy Quilting.  Even though there were 2 weeks to finish up the blocks and sew them into a quilt top, I just wasn't sure I would make it.

So this morning I woke up determined to just get it done!
It is loud, it is chaotic and probably not for everyone...but I love it anyway.

I didn't follow Melissa's pattern completely.  I decided to go with two colors in the background.  I knew that teal was going to be a bit strong so alternating it with the turquoise really broke it up.  I also decided to skip the sashing.  I did this partly because I liked the alternate patterns that were created (I might capitalize on them in the quilting) and because the backing I want to use was too small if the quilt got much bigger.

There are nine giant 24" blocks so the quilt measures 72" square - which is one of my favorite sizes for a quilt.  It certainly is an explosion of color!

Unfortunately, I will not get this quilted in time for the quilt parade on the 15th.  I probably could have slapped on some quick quilting and made it in time but I really want to spend some time on this one.

If you want to see more of these quilts, you can check out the link or visit Happy Quilting on the 15th to see all the finished projects.  Thanks again Melissa for a fun Quilt Along!

It is absolutely stunning!!! And I so love the way the secondary patterns in color were created without the sashing. Just amazing!!! Such a beautiful finish!!! And way to get it done in time. I know, that is a ton of piecing!!! So happy you quilted along with me again ;)

Love the quilt! I don't think its chaotic - though it might be colorful ;) It just looks like happy und bright times. You will enjoy it a lot and it's worth the wait if you can finish it with the prefered quilting.

Yeah for the finish!!! I personally love loud and chaotic so this one is right up my alley. I really like the color scheme and agree the 2 color background was a good choice.

That is just beautiful! I love the color combination - you are a master at that! Definitely a warm and summery quilt, but perfect for moving into fall, too.

The contrast between the blue and orange is dramatic and perfect for this pattern. I also love that you have mixed both solids and prints. I can't wait to see how you decide to quilt this! She's a beauty!
