Here is why I don't like to clean my sewing room!
After sewing up all of my turquoise string blocks for the month of February (I ended up with a total of 21), I decided to tidy up my sewing room and started putting away all my scraps. Well, my turquoise color bin is right below my lime green color bin and I noticed it was full. I was curious if this color was even on Angela's list for this year. Hmmm....
Seeing it was not one for 2017, this quickly happened....followed by more lime blocks.
I think it took a total of 24 blocks to sew up all of the lime green strings.
Once I got started, I couldn't quit.
Using the two colors together, I ended up with lovely piece. It is a nice 60" square. Thanks to Linda over at Koka Quilts, I am a bit obsessed with prints on prints right now so dots were used for the sashing and border.
I think turquoise and lime are one of my favorite color combinations. I was not planning on finishing another string quilt this month but these blocks were just screaming to be placed together. The few leftover blocks, I put aside for later use. I know they will eventually find a home!
I had two different backings that would work on this quilt but decided these triangles work perfectly with the geometry of the string blocks. And I went with a bold lime green solid binding.
This one is going to be hard to pass on to its next home!
I did get my scraps cleaned up - I just kept my eyes closed this time :)

This is a wonderful quilt. Even more appealing than a tidied up studio. That backing is definitely a good match for the front, and I'm not sure I could let that go either.
You are definitely not the only one to get lost in your sewing room and working on something other than what you intended~~ But this was so worth it, it's a beauty!!

I love how cheerful this color combination is. Your blocks look great all together and have a 3-D effect. The backing is pretty neat as well.

I love blues and greens together whatever the shade, I think some quilts are just meant to be, they seem to take on a life of their own, and they always turn out great. Love the binding.

What a great quilt!! I love the polka dots :) They go well with the beautiful string blocks but the backing is even better! I can see why they demanded to be made into a top right away and why it will be hard to give it away, give it away, give it away now ;-)

All of that and you even got a finish! It's good you kept going! Now you have me wanting to make string blocks. You have probably said in another post, but do you use paper or fabric for your foundation for these string blocks?

Sewing strings is so relaxing! I was asking myself this morning "why is this so much fun"? I think it's because there are no seems to match and no specific order to the fabrics. Just grab and go!

What a beautiful combination! I sometimes think how crazy it is that we cut up and sew together fabrics to make one large piece! It's even crazier to me that a bucket of scraps can make something so beautiful!
