Did you see that Julie (Of JulieKQuilts) is hosting her Log Cabin Loonies again this year? I follow her blog and I saw the announcement a few weeks ago but my sense of responsibility told me that I needed to work on the 24 UFOs I listed last month.
I have no business starting something new.
Then a week went by and I saw all the fun little log cabin blocks that were being made.
Still, I was able to hold out!
Another week went by and I held strong.....
And then this weekend, three things happened.
1) I unburied these woven plaids fat quarters I recently bought for the big sum of $6.
2) I sorted through my low volume scraps and grumbled over all the yellow/tan tones that were collecting up and in my way.
3) I made the mistake of looking at this weeks inspiring log cabin posts by so many fellow bloggers.
So a couple 8" blocks were made. No big deal.
I need a leader/ender project anyway.....
But as you can see, my log cabin blocks became my main focus and the UFOs became the L/E.
Ooops...At least I was able to stay strong for a couple weeks!
Of course, now my concern is that Julie is hosting this event for quite a few weeks.
What happens when I finish this quilt?!?!?

I love how they are looking. I have a bunch of homespuns and I have a bunch of the darker neutrals-NOPE I cannot do it right now. I have to stay strong, hehe.
OH my word...I just MUST make some homespun ones, too!! I love them...perfection!!!! Love this inspiration!
They look great! Homespuns are hard to find around here! I see you’re using wider scraps than JulieK’s 1” wide, like I am! My plan is for 80 blocks so I’ll need 60 more. The never ending scraps will feed this just fine :)
Love those plaids! Classic for a classic block
Those blocks are all lovely. I can see why you could not resist. I was resisting Sweet Land of Liberty for the longest time, but here it is, month nine (?), and I am joining in!
Hm, log cabin blocks in plaid, that might be an option for me since I am swimming in that fabric. Picked it up for a song too.
Lovely blocks! I love the palate. They have a very cozy feel.
Your blocks are so great in plaids with the yellow/tan on the other side! No wonder you wanted to keep going! I participated in Log Cabin Loonies when Julie held it a few years ago, and really love the quilt I made from it. Yours is going to be beautiful!
Hahaha! You are so funny, Cynthia. Don't you worry. I'm sure you will uncover another bundle of fabric that is perfect for another log cabin quilt once this one is done. ;^)
There is always room in the world for another log cabin quilt! Looks great.
Loving your log cabins, the plaids are so effective!
I’ve had fun catching up on your blog today. This is exactly why I avoid leaders and Enders. They always become my focus.
I love these log cabin blocks. Can't wait for more. Definitely need to check out JulieKQuilts blog. Maybe it will put me in a mood to make some log cabin blocks! Nadine Willis rnwillis@velotech.net
I've only made log cabin blocks once, but I'm starting to really like them. I think it's time to re-visit.
I love Log Cabins. Very nice.
I love these blocks! The plaid works so well for log cabin blocks and I would never think of it. Hmm... You aren't the only one being tempted.
Just beautiful blocks--love those plaids--this will be beautiful...hugs, Julierose
Very pretty log cabins. You are still using up scraps and the UFOs are being handled as your L/E project, so you are still meeting your goals right?
Oh the lure of a new project! These are really pretty,I love homespuns like these and have tons! Should try this!
You are so funny!!! I'm surprised it took that long for you to cave under the pressure. But as always you are going full force and making unbelievable headway!
Temptation comes in all shapes and forms :) But for something like this, it's okay! Sounds like the perfect design for those plaids.
Love the homespun cabins! Way to go!
Those are adorable. I can see why you couldnt resist
