A Burgoyne Surround Finish

I hope all of you who celebrated had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  The weather here in Eugene Oregon was blustery and rainy.  It was a good day to hide indoors and eat!

It was also a good day to finish up the last few stitches of the binding on my Burgoyne Surround quilt.  Of course, there was no way I was going to be able to get any good outdoor photos so we will have to settle for some indoor ones.

It looks like I started the blocks for this quilt over a year ago.  I love royal blue, black and gray together - I think it made a really nice combination for this design.  I used different fabrics in each block so it has a somewhat scrappy feel.

I kept the quilting free-flowing...a swirl design I call splish-splash.  The white thread really shows up on the royal blue backing.

It feels good to get this older UFO scratched off the list so I think I will rummage in my sewing room tonight to see what else I have in there that I can finish.  You never know what I will uncover next....there are some oldies in there!

I forgot about this quilt! It turned out gorgeous just as I knew it would! We had a sunny and 60 degree day yesterday...not at all what the end of November should be like! I hope you had a wonderful day regardless of the rain!

Hurray for Burgoyne! Lovely finish ya got there! (I need to pull mine out and finish it one of these days. Though I'm a little afraid that if I look at it too close I'll start making blocks again...)

Congratulations on your finish, Cynthia! There's something timeless about that palette -- I can see why you were drawn to it. : )

Playing devil's advocate here ... How many UFOs do you think you have lingering in your sewing room?!
