Splendid Sampler - Ta Da!

This one has been in the works for over 3 years!
It sure feels good to have it done.

Here is my version of the original Splendid Sampler all bound and finished.

The blocks for this quilt along were all 6" finished and I think were released at a rate of about 2 per week.  I decided to only make the pieced blocks and skip any that were appliqued or too novelty looking.  I used only Kaffe Fassett scraps and tried hard to make each block glow through fabric selection and palcement.

I finished about 62 out of the 100 blocks designed.
Only 55 made it into my quilt.

I did complete one applique block so I decided to place it in the center of the quilt.  I had some other heart blocks that I decided I wanted to keep in a straight setting so I created a center medallion.

I did add in my Posies All Around block I designed for 100 Quiltmaker (right next to the checkerboard block).  I think it looks great among all the other block designers.

And if you missed it, I recently posted how to do the little red border that circled both the center medallion and the outside of the quilt.
It is super easy to do!

I backed the quilt with a hot pink KF Lotus print I have been hoarding in my stash for the perfect quilt.  There was just enough left over to use as the binding as well.

This one is a winner, Cynthia! You really did make each block glow, and the blue and green backgrounds are the cool waters to set each block off. A gorgeous piece in every way! Congrats on a wonderful finish :)

I would never have put that green background in the center like you did, nor think it went with the aqua background you used. But, I love it so much! Just really different and beautiful!

Yeah for the finish! It's gorgeous! So fun to include one of your own blocks in it, too. Makes it all that much more special :)
