A Scrappy Kaffe Finish

How is it the end of May already!?!
Oh well, it is Friday so I am happy :)

I finally finished up the binding on my Kaffe Fassett scrap quilt.  I am really happy with the end result.  I am continually amazed at the pretty quilts that come out of scraps!

I used a dark plummy purple Quilter's Linen for the background.  I think it set off the colorful fabrics so well.  And I really like the striped fabric I used in the inset triangles.
Both of these fabrics were already in my stash.

I spent almost no time matching up fabrics for each block.  I had to have scraps of a certain size for each portion of the block so that is pretty much what drove my fabric selections.  When I went to lay out the blocks for the top, I did like the look of putting all the pinkish blocks to the outside.

For the quilting, I used a dark plum thread and quilted an allover scrollwork design.  I used the same fabric on the binding that I used on the inset triangles.

If you are curious how I assemble my blocks in the on-point design and how I inset that stripe, you can find the links here.

I paired an old Carla Miller fabric I had with a bunch more Kaffe scraps to make a backing large enough for the quilt.

I still have many more Kaffe scraps to work through.  Not sure what design I will tackle next.  I will have to wait for the inspiration to strike!

Have a wonderful weekend!  Our weather here is Oregon is supposed to be beautiful so I hope to spend some time in the gardens - my other happy place!

If you wouldn't have said it, I wouldn't even have guessed this was actually a scrap quilt! I love this quilt and love the purple quilting!

I always love a great Kaffe finish. Love the mix of colors and fabrics. I have some square in a square blocks from eons ago made from Kaffe warm colored prints that I've never done anything with. Maybe I should add another round (which make them really large blocks) and then finish it up.

Wow, that turned out so pretty! I always think I should make a Kaffe quilt, and never do. Then each time I see one, I love it. Someday I'll make one, and I hope it turns out as lovely as yours!

So pretty! I don't think I noticed that the pink blocks were around the outside when you showed the flimsy, but that is lovely. Congratulations on a very happy finish!

Glorious quilt and backing! I love all that yummy colour! The dark plum border treatment is super with the block corners extending out into the plum.

That plum fabric really sets everything else up to shine. What an eye catching quilt.
