Finished...But not as Planned

I have finished another little quilt from the orphan block stash. I think this makes project number four.  This one was originally planned to be quite different but I never did find some purple fabric I swore I had.  But I still really like the finished wall hanging.

I featured an improv orphan block I received in a bag of scraps.  I love the colors and fabrics in it.
I have used the purple and white striped fabric (second in from both ends) in a previous quilt and thought I had more in my stash.
I was originally going to incorporate that fabric and make a much bigger quilt.

Once I reorganized and folded my entire stash looking for that purple fabric, I realized I needed to come up with Plan B.  So I pulled a bunch of purple, pink and orange 9 patches out of the suitcase.  These were made from the extra 1.5" squares I cut for my postage stamp quilt.

I knew they would come in handy some day!

BTW - Check out that binding fabric - Is it not perfect!

Here it is in its entirety.  It measures about 26" x 30".

I really like how it turned out and decided I needed to keep it for myself.
Purple AND orange - I just couldn't let this one go!

I had a large open space on one of the walls in my sewing room.  It just fits!

But looking at this photo, I think it is time for me to reorganize the artwork on all the walls in there.  I am sure they could be color coordinated a bit better!

But I love looking at them all (including the wall that is not shown) - I like the fact that they are all eclectic and come from lots of people.

They constantly inspire me!

Such a fun little piece! And even though it was Plan B, it's a great example of how that medium gray just makes all the bright colors truly shine :)

You always need a plan B! And your plan B is great! I love the addition of the nine patch border. And it looks gorgeous on your wall!

What's not to like! Purple and orange together were not on my screen, but they are now. That crashing sound is my blinders falling off. It's a little gem with the improv piecing and the perfect quilting and binding. A keeper for sure. And to think that you already had a place for it on your sewing room wall. I had to chuckle. My office/sewing room walls are crammed, but nary a thing is quilted. Oh, hang it up in Linda's room. sigh

I love how you made use of the orphan block and the bits and pieces. Those little 4-patchs are really sweet. Don't blame you for wanting to keep it . . . looks perfect on the wall
