More Holiday Making

Is there something that intimidates you?  For me, it is zippers!

I have been wanting to make some Sew Together Bags for years.  But whenever I thought about sewing in FOUR zippers, I chickened out.

Well look at these!  I have already made two and I have the fabric and the supplies all pulled for two more.  Again, I didn't plan very well on colors because I have to trade the thread color out for each bag.  But I am really pleased with how they are turning out.

I don't know why zippers scare me so much.  I had no problem at all making these.  I will admit, I used a bunch of zippers I already had on hand so the main zipper isn't as long as they suggest.  So I did have to modify the pattern a bit to make them work.  Also, the bags don't open as wide as designed but I doubt the recipients will even know that.

If you want to give this bag a try, you can buy the pattern here.

I have a few more gifty projects to share but I have to wait until they have been opened.
So maybe next Friday!

Now I am headed back to my sewing room.....

I have the pattern and I share your fear! I think I will put "zipper bag" on my 2020 ToDo list.

I used to sew clothing when I was in college and I was pretty good at zippers, but boy I haven't done that in awhile. Your bags look great. Happy stitching this next week and have a very happy holiday.

Good for you, Cyndy! Those look great! I've made a lot of one zipper bags, but never something that involved. Those will make wonderful gifts!

And here I thought I was the last person ever to make one of these when I did it a year or so ago! I remember kinda liking making this one even with all those zippers. I should do another, but I really don't need another bag, LOL Yours turned out cute, love the aqua on there.

I’m so glad you finally gave them a try! They make awesome gifts. Make sure you sew one for yourself!

They look super! Zippers are a pain in the tush when you don't sew with them very often. So I share your trepidation :)

I think Sew Together Bags are beautiful but also very time intense. But I think they are also a good bag for starting with zippers as they include a simple construction at those points... Yours are beautiful and the zipper difference will make them even more unique. Treasured and used they will be nonetheless :) xo

I one similar to this. It was difficult and confusing! I've heard good things about this pattern though and may have to give it a try one day. Your's turned out amazing...you should be very proud of yourself!

Thank you for sharing my anxiety! lol....I, too, have wanted to make this bag...and even bought the pattern after my friend and blogger, Ramona at Doodlebugs&Rosebuds, made several. She tried to assuage my fears without luck. If you're SURE...it's not too daunting, I might give it a whirl. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful holiday season.

Oh, this is a great pattern! I've made several of these bags and loved every one of them. Yours are beautiful, and no one will ever know you used a different length zipper. (Well, except for us, of course. We will know because you told us...)

Hi Cynthia, those are really great looking bags. I'm also nervous about zippers but they usually go well. At least they're not button holes!

My Sew Together Bag pattern is still on the shelf, taunting me! My excuse... I don’t have the correct zippers!! ☹️😳
