Happy 2020 Everyone!
After taking a few weeks away from the longarm portion of my business, I am feeling much more refreshed. I used the time to get my household organized, update all my business spreadsheets and plan on some goals for the new year.
I feel like I have a pretty good plan!
I did want to go back and share some of the final gift items I made. Potholders are always a popular and well received gift. I did try some round ones this year. Even though I had cut my binding on the bias, the first one I sewed looked more like one of my bowl cozies! It took me a bit to not stretch the binding as I sewed it on. They were a lot harder than they looked.
I do have an old tutorial on how I quilt my potholders.
I don't like to quilt the Insulbrite because I think they then allow steam through.
I also made a bunch of napkin sets from fabric in my stash.
I make them the same way I make my tablecloths. I posted a tutorial here.
I am so glad I won't have to be making any more gifts. They are not my favorite thing to sew. I am looking forward to getting out my bins of colorful scraps and start sewing.

You made lots of your gifts this year! I managed two bowl cozies, and only gave one away, lol! I never thought to not quilt through the Insulbrite in my hotpads - will have to keep that in mind next time I make some. Happy 2020!
Wish I'd known of your tablecloth/napkin tutorial before I made all my fruit and veggie napkins. Love the way it finishes the corners. Do you use the same 1" hem for the napkins? Hope you have a great 2020.
Those look like great gifts, Cynthia! One of my first projects of the year will actually be pot holders, so you information on quilting (or not) thru Insulbrite is quite timely. Aside from that, I plan to quilt through as many scraps as possible alongside Angela with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. Wishing you a Quilty New Year!!
Love your tips. I plan on doing 3 things each month. 1. Moving something closer to a finish. 2. Finishing something
And 3 relaxing a bit with my needlework.
I usually sew every day so am hoping this will help me get some UFO's finished up. Those flimsys and squirrels multiply I swear
Very nice napkins. I think napkins are a great gift. As for me, I am hoping to use up more of the stash and finish up some oldies, but play a bit more as well.
Sometimes those little projects are a nice break from quilting, and other times they seems like a chore. Glad you have lots of scrap quilting to look forward to :)

Thanks for sharing the link to your tablecloth. I remember seeing it but I had forgotten about it. I am wanting to make a bunch of napkins and I like that method.

I’m going to check on your napkin tutorial! I can’t seem to get in the cloth napkin mode, but need to try! Maybe some fun fabric ones would help!
