Charm Square Conundrum

With more time on my hands right now, I am pulling out some projects with far ahead deadlines.
I may not have the time in the future!

I have been holding onto a couple charm packs to make a Christmas quilt.  I always have a hard time tearing open that little paper band.  And when the pattern doesn't use all of the charms, I have to make decisions on what prints I am going to use and what charms I will toss in the scrap bins.
Scraps are always easier for me to use!

Here are the prints I have decided to use from my Little Tree collection from Lella Boutique.  Now that I have my fabrics, the quilt assembly will probably not take long.

Time to get sewing.

Everybody stay home and stay safe!

Great idea to start a Christmas project now as the holidays always seem to sneak up on me. As for any precuts, I usually have great difficulty using them so almost always stay away from them. I end up “making” my own packets. The precuts are undeniably gorgeous. No matter how hard I try, I Never have enough variety of fabrics to work with. I have seen numerous quilts made with precuts that I inevitably find gorgeous. And I could buy the same fabric line and end up struggling with working with the fabrics. Phew, thank goodness I’m well aware of the basic personality groups and the ensuing mixing do these groups. Prior to learning this, I just thought that we all processed information the same. Notice, I didn’t say we Thought the same, I said Process.

I love problem solving. Which was very helpful during my very long career as a registered nurse. My mind always runs in problem solving mode. So I’ve come to the conclusion that I Need a greater variety of fabrics as I make my quilts to satisfy this innate drive. (I must add that my father was an engineer). I did have an interesting quilt adventure a few years ago. One daughter in law came over with a very short stack of fabrics asking me to make a baby quilt for her friend. I think it was about 6-7 fabrics. (So out of my comfort zone.). Charging into the challenge, I researched how to turn these fabrics into a stunning quilt. Unbeknownst to Lori, the fabric choices were perfect and my chosen design also perfect. It fit the new baby to be’s nursery as if it had been commissioned. The soon to be family sent Lori a picture with the quilt on the wall above the crib.

Hopefully our latest snowfall will melt quickly so I can return to some early spring yard work. Even after it melts...will need to wait until dry enough to use the leaf blower on our front bank. Missed the last few years as was unable to get it done due to snow thru early April. The bank had already become overgrown when I could get to it. And can’t wait to see some daffodils showing up. God bless

I also started a Christmas quilt with charms. Tentative name is Christmas in the Time of Corona. Maybe Quarantined Christmas. I am in a critical industry, so I am still working, but reduced hours. All grandkids are quarantined with us, so it’s a bit crazy, but fun. Keep safe.

That's a really nice fabric line. Good mix of values and scales. I know you'll make something lovely :)
