Oh Scrap! : Crazy Times

I hope all of you are staying home and keeping safe and healthy.  For years now, I have worked out of my home and it is not uncommon for me to not leave the house for days.  So the sheltering at home has been easy for me.  I hope all of you are adapting well.

But I will admit, I don't do well without a plan.  And right now, the future is anyone's guess. So I find myself without a lot of desire to sew.  I did manage to sew up a couple turquoise string blocks before I put that color bin away.

I added them to some of the other string blocks I have made in the past.  I am recreating this quilt I completed back in 2018  (it immediately sold).  I want it to add to my trunkshow presentation - it needs some new scrappy eye candy.  And I love to talk about colorful string quilts.

Have you ever gone back and remade a quilt you let go?

other than leaving home to exercise I am a home body and I'm used to being home most of the time - it won't be real hard for me to be home but being home with my husband day after day is going to be hard LOL he is going to drive me crazy!!

Lovely blocks. I'm still exploring new patterns, techniques and designs, so, no time to make a second similar quilt ;) Your string quilt is looking very good, it's going to be a beautiful one.

I don't have much trouble staying home either, but I think my initial, "This won't be a problem," has turned into "Yikes, how long is this going to last?" Because I think now it's going to be awhile. We have a retirement habit of going out to lunch pretty frequently, so I'm going to have to come up with more lunch ideas, too! I always love your string blocks and that quilt you linked to is gorgeous. It's a good one to have in your trunk show collection! Have a good Sunday,Cyndy!

Like you, I can stay in for days. But knowing I shouldn't go out does make me anxious. I have been digging out UFOs and PHDs. Managed to pull together a 36"x36" baby quilt for Jack's Basket using remnants from a long-ago finish and was so thrilled with it that I am planning to make more!

I find it hard to stay put. I understand more what cabin fever is all about and how it affects mental health. But today the sun is here, so I'll send lots of time outside. I did remake a quilt. Hidden Gems was the second quilt and I plan on making a third one. I so love that rainbow quilt.
Love your quilt and I understand why you want to make another one. It's an awesome string quilt. Enjoy! ;^)

I've always self isolated myself and while it's easier for me it's still difficult because I have to! boy would I love to go to the grocery store and I never thought I'd say that before! It has to be difficult for people who are always on the go for work, play, with children or social butterflies!

I love the beautiful turquoise! And string blocks are always gorgeous in my book!

Just lovely turquoise blocks you've made...I like that black (?) you put up near them, too--nice contrast...
don't despair--we can only do what we can do, right? I am sewing away my cares--at least while i am concentrating on sewing..so that helps a lot...hugs from afar stay safe Julierose

My husband and I are retired and prefer to stay home anyway, so this is not a hardship for us. Supplies are another matter, but so far, so good. We are grateful and thankful none of our family has been sick.
I've never gone back and remade a quilt, but I'm sure I will at some point! You are definitely the queen of strings, and I love them.

The thrift and consignment shop closures made me sad since that is a form of entertainment for me. I have lots of projects to lose myself and never have enough time. Working remotely is a gift right now.
I've linked up. Thank you for hosting.
Are you rescheduling the Quilty Orphan Adoption event? Or did I miss it?

Sounds like a good plan, Cynthia, as that's an awesome quilt!! I've got many projects to keep me busy during this time of social distancing. Thank goodness for technology to keep in touch with friends!

Your string blocks are looking glorious, Cynthia! I have given all of my quilts away and have nothing finished to show for myself. If I had to give a trunk show, it would be a trunk show of UFOs! I have never remade the same quilt before, but I've considered doing a remake of the Mission Impossible quilt that I designed for my son's high school graduation last year. There are just so many other things that I'm working on, dreaming about, etc., that I don't know whether a "do-over" will ever happen.

It is so interesting to remake a quilt, isn't it?
I made a quilt for a friend, and loved it so much I made another one for myself, but made the blocks bigger and the whole quilt bigger. It changed the amounts of each colour so I had to applique some purple over green portions, not quite the same but love it nonetheless.
I made 6 of the same quilt (crazy with a plain alternate), just changing out the alternate block AMAZING how much that changed the whole quilt.

Definitely a quilt worth having a copy of. I've never remade a quilt that I let go. I am usually satisfied to have photos of quilts. However, I've never had a show where needed samples of my work either.

Oh Yes I remember the quilt from 2018 and I'm looking forward to see version 2 very much indeed!
