Looking for a quick baby quilt finish?
I just finished this cutie and the top went together in just a couple hours.
I grabbed a bunch of odd solid chunks in a rainbow of colors and cut them into half hexies using my Hex n More ruler.
I had this playful fabric that I had a bunch of long strips leftover from the trimming of a previous quilt's backing. I cut them up into a uniform width (and even had enough to cut some binding strips).
I quilted a combination of serpentine, straight and looped lines for the quilting. I used the serpentine in the floral and in the ditch area. The loopy and straight lines in the solids just adds some fun.
I ended up piecing three large leftover pieces of a lime green fabric to make a backing for this quilt. I was able to match the print so you barely see the seam lines.
I love that all of this quilt was made from the leftovers from previous quilts.
It feels good to move these bits out of my sewing room and create something so cute.
I am going to have to dig around and see what else I can find!

Oh my gosh...what a simple but so very striking pattern. I may have to "borrow" that idea.
I love it when youtake what is available in your scraps and design a pretty quilt. This is such a great idea for making a baby quilt quickly. keep up the good work!
Loving the ease for such a cute finish. Did you use the largest half hexie on that ruler?
That is so pretty and happy, Cyndy! Using the half hexies gives it a unique design, too. Great finish!
I really could use the bright and fun today, so this is a treat! The bright colors work so well with the fun print. :)

What a great idea for a baby quilt! Thank you for sharing this. I am a great copier but not so fabulous at originating.
What a darling and bright, happy finish! It was definitely meant to be, and is going to make someone very happy!
What a cheery way to move some scraps along. And a reminder that every quilt doesn't have to have a thousand little pieces.

So cute and some lucky baby is going to have a bright, cheerful quilt.
Also seeing this has reminded me I have heaps of the half hexagons from a previous quilt - I have been pondering on how to use them!!
Pretty! I love the bright colors! It's so nice to use up odd pieces and turn them into something beautiful.
Love the bright colors in this little gem! It's always fun when a quilt comes together in record time. There is going to be a nursery that rocks this baby quilt!
What a fun, happy baby quilt you've created! I'd enjoy wrapping myself up in that, but I'm afraid I wouldn't fit. Drats! Great use of the solids to match your strips.
The quilt looks bright and happy. It's perfect for a baby. Thanks for sharing your idea. I'm sure a lot of quilters will find it irresistible.
