Today marks the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment - where some women won the right to vote.
I am still slowly working on my "Vote" quilt. For weeks I have been thinking about adding some flag blocks to the mix. But truthfully, with the country so divided, I haven't felt all that patriotic and have been hesitant on making them.
So I added these two blocks to the previous blocks I have completed. The election is coming up quickly so I hope all of you have a plan in place for voting. Either in person or by mail-in ballot, I hope you are planning on casting a ballot.
The state I live in, voting can be handled entirely through the mail. But I do not send my ballot back through the mail. I have already identified the locations of direct ballot receptacles in my area so that I can deliver mine directly.
With a country so divided, I hope voters can put aside their party and vote for the candidates to take the country closer in the direction of unity. Stress and hatred are not healthy for any of us!

Well said, and I agree whole-heartedly. The block looks to be to be waving but is also very representative of the divide.
I need to see where I can bring my ballot back directly - I haven't felt all that patriotic in ages. I hope that will improve.
Now that is a cool idea for your flag blocks! I love that the design was meaningful to you. I'm like you and many others - not feeling so patriotic these days, but with hope for the future beyond the election. Happy Suffrage Day!
I am loving your "vote" quilt. And now the "divided flag" block ?? Fabulous.
I am so hoping for "Unity" in this election. "We" have been fighting for too long. Every one---VOTE
Love the flags! And thank you for saying Vote, without announcing any part affiliations.
One small note, when hung vertically, the field of blue remains in the upper left corner. With the "wave" in them, you may want to keep them horizontal.
Great idea, too, for a QoV!
Well said and you are not alone. I can't imagine another four years of the current administration and the never ending division. I'll vote with a garbage bag on and a fish bowl over my head if I have to...nothing is going to stop me!! While it's the 100th anniversary of women's right to vote, it was only for white women. It wasn't until decades later that women of color were afforded the same rights.
What a great block! A simple, clever design. And you're smart to drop your ballot off in person in a designated place. We'll have to mail ours because we have fled the virulence of Florida for the relatively unruffled waters of Maine. BUT VOTE WE WILL, come hell or high water!
I love watching this quilt come together. My home state always brags about being the first state to give women the right to vote in 1869 when it was still a territory. I’m not so proud of them today! Wyoming is still a vastly divided state. We used the option to vote absentee. I delivered our ballots directly to the Clerk of Elections office. Not because I didn’t trust my mail carrier, I was going to the courthouse to buy vehicle tags anyway,
Well said, it appears many of us are feeling the same way. I'll be voting by absentee ballot for the first time...just waiting for it to arrive!!!
I am totally getting you right now!! but I love that flag block - to me it is waving in the wind .... and hope.... ( i will get there!!)
