A Rainbow Scrap Challenge Finish

I decided to just finish up one of my Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilt.

My initial plan was to make the quilt 60 x 72" but I decided to just finish it with the 20 blocks I had completed already.  I tend to make some of my quilts a little bit too big, so this rainbow quilt will be lacking in red and yellow blocks.  I don't think anyone will mind.

The sun is so bright today, I had to snap a photo on one of my shady patios to keep the glare down as much as I could.  Sorry about the green hose :)

The fabrics for the top came entirely out of the scrap bins - even the backgrounds.  I will most likely donate this one so there is a lot of different prints for someone to explore.

In the dark purple square, you can see the quilting pattern I used - a combination of a swirl and feathers.

On the back, I used a soft green fabric I picked up at Connecting Threads a long time ago and used a colorful stripe for the binding.

This was a simple block to make because it was just squares.  I will definitely be playing with this design again in the future.

One of the things I love about the Rainbow Scrap Challenge is that it keeps me focused on using my scraps every month.  Otherwise, all of my scrap quilts would be purple, red and/or orange.  And I would rarely use my green, brown or blue scraps.

September's color is red so I am busy sewing up the blocks for my other RSC projects.

I hope to share some of those soon!

Beautiful, Cynthia! I just love the RSC too. Every quilt made is gorgeous and yes, we get to use ALL the colors. Somehow the bins never empty though ... Lol!

That is a nice block to use up scraps. I like a multi-color stripe binding to tie all the colors together

Pretty!! I think it’s fun to leave out a color or two in a rainbow scrap quilt. It really makes an interesting change.

Those are such great blocks, and I love how the finished quilt turned out! I like making 48 x 60 quilts lately - for me that's a good size to handle and is comfortable for cuddling under in a comfy chair!

As always, you did a fabulous job. I used to make my quilts for the beds but at my son's request, he said the twin/lap size were just right to snuggle up under, so I am taking his advice and making smaller ones for them to drag around the house!
