I decided to just finish up one of my Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilt.
My initial plan was to make the quilt 60 x 72" but I decided to just finish it with the 20 blocks I had completed already. I tend to make some of my quilts a little bit too big, so this rainbow quilt will be lacking in red and yellow blocks. I don't think anyone will mind.
This was a simple block to make because it was just squares. I will definitely be playing with this design again in the future.
One of the things I love about the Rainbow Scrap Challenge is that it keeps me focused on using my scraps every month. Otherwise, all of my scrap quilts would be purple, red and/or orange. And I would rarely use my green, brown or blue scraps.
September's color is red so I am busy sewing up the blocks for my other RSC projects.
I hope to share some of those soon!
Turned out beautiful!! I make a lot of scrap quilts. This is a nice design to try one time.
ReplyDeleteThe binding is the perfect frame for this one. Congratulations on the finish!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Cynthia! I just love the RSC too. Every quilt made is gorgeous and yes, we get to use ALL the colors. Somehow the bins never empty though ... Lol!
ReplyDeletevery nice indeed!
ReplyDeletePretty quilt and an easy way to get rid of a bunch of scrapes.
ReplyDeleteThis quilt looks fantastic...& a great use of some smaller pieces too...xox
ReplyDeleteThat is a nice block to use up scraps. I like a multi-color stripe binding to tie all the colors together
ReplyDeleteI think it is beautiful with out the red and yellow's!
ReplyDeleteI love all the scrappy backgrounds! They give the quilt so much more depth. Beautiful finish :)
ReplyDeletePretty!! I think it’s fun to leave out a color or two in a rainbow scrap quilt. It really makes an interesting change.
ReplyDeleteThose are such great blocks, and I love how the finished quilt turned out! I like making 48 x 60 quilts lately - for me that's a good size to handle and is comfortable for cuddling under in a comfy chair!
ReplyDeleteSimply gorgeous! Scrappy quilts warm my heart!
ReplyDeleteA super finish. The striped binding fabric is perfect for an RSC quilt.
ReplyDeleteAs always, you did a fabulous job. I used to make my quilts for the beds but at my son's request, he said the twin/lap size were just right to snuggle up under, so I am taking his advice and making smaller ones for them to drag around the house!
ReplyDeleteGreat finish, Cynthia. The scrappiness looks so comfy.
ReplyDeleteGreat finish! That is why I enjoy participating in the RSC also because it really keeps me on track with using up the scraps!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on another fabulous RSC finish, Cynthia!!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a fun quilt to look at! I don’t miss the red or yellow! It really is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finish. I kinda like the green hose - looks homey and down to earth with just the right pop of color :-) Have a great weekend!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the finish! That is a great quilt - love how it turned out. I think I might need to steal this pattern for next year!
ReplyDeleteI really love this quilt. The scrappy background fabrics are a perfect choice.
